Ferran Martínez
Ferran Martínez Garriga (born 25 April 1968) is a retired Spanish professional basketball player. At a height of 2.13 m (7'0") tall, he played as the power forward and center positions. Professional career During his pro club career, Martínez won the EuroLeague championship in 1994, and he was the top scorer of the finals. He also won the FIBA Intercontinental Cup championship in 1996. Greek Basket League
The Greek Basket League (GBL), often also referred to as the Greek A1 Basketball League, or Greek Basketball Championship (originally called Panhellenic Basketball Championship), and also known as the Stoiximan Basket League for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. It is run by HEBA ( el, ΕΣΑΚΕ, link=no), under the legal authority of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It is the highest-tier level of the Greek league system. The 1993 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1993, was the 28th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. It was held in Germany between 22 June and 4 July 1993. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The 1990 FIBA World Championship was the 11th FIBA World Championship, the international basketball world championship for men's teams. It was hosted by Argentina from 8 to 19 August 1990. The final phase of the competition was held at the Luna Park, Buenos Aires. Yugoslavia emerged as the tournament winner. This was the last World Championship in which the country participated before its dissolution. Likewise, the Soviet Union participated in its final tournament before its dissolution. Basketball At The 1988 Summer Olympics
Basketball at the 1988 Summer Olympics was the twelfth appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It took place at the Jamsil Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea from 17 September to 30 September 1988. The United States won the gold medal in the women's competition, repeating their performance from the 1984 tournament. In the men's tournament, the Soviet Union took home their second gold medal in the team's history for this event. In the team, Baltic basketballers were overrepresented: Sabonis, Chomičius, Kurtinaitis and Marčiulionis were Lithuanian, Miglinieks was Latvian, and Kaj Sokk was Estonian. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. The 1996 FIBA Intercontinental Cup was the 22nd edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup for men's professional basketball clubs and the 21st edition of the tournament being in the form of a true intercontinental tournament. It was contested through a best-of-three playoff format, in September 1996, in order to determine the world club champion. It was contested between the winners of the 1995–96 season of the FIBA European League, Panathinaikos, and Olimpia, the winners of the 1996 edition of the FIBA South American League. The 1993–94 FIBA European League, also shortened to 1993–94 FIBA EuroLeague, was the 37th installment of the European top-tier level professional club competition for basketball clubs (now called EuroLeague). It began on September 9, 1993, and ended on April 21, 1994. The competition's Final Four was held at Tel Aviv.
