Felix Rappaport
Felix D. Rappaport (November 7, 1952 – June 18, 2018) was an American businessman in the casino industry. He was a casino executive in Las Vegas, Nevada, for two decades. From 2014 to 2018, he served as the chief executive officer of Foxwoods Resort Casino, "one of the world's largest gaming enterprises." Early life Rappaport was born on November 7, 1952, and grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. Career Rappaport began his career as executive director of the Burlington County chapter of the American Red Cross in Burlington, New Jersey. At the time, he was the youngest executive director in the United States. He subsequently resigned that position to become human resource manager at the Brighton Hotel and Casino, which later became the Sands Hotel and Casino, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Norwich, Connecticut
Norwich ( ) (also called "The Rose of New England") is a city in New London County, Connecticut, United States. The Yantic, Shetucket, and Quinebaug Rivers flow into the city and form its harbor, from which the Thames River flows south to Long Island Sound. The population was 40,125 at the 2020 United States Census. History The town of Norwich was founded on the site of what is now Norwichtown in 1659 by settlers from Saybrook Colony led by Major John Mason and James Fitch. They purchased the land "nine miles square" that became Norwich from Mohegan Sachem Uncas. One of the co-founders of Norwich was Thomas Leffingwell who rescued Uncas when surrounded by his Narragansett enemies, and whose son established the Leffingwell Inn. The Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Norwich is a cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church located in Norwich, Connecticut. It is the mother church of the Diocese of Norwich and is the seat of its prelate bishop. Parish history In 1833, Father James Fitton celebrated the first Catholic mass in Norwich in a third floor loft with 12 people in attendance. By 1842, the first building in town to serve as a church was a shed in Twomeytown. A year later, Norwich became the jurisdiction of the newly erected Diocese of Hartford. St. Mary, the first Roman-Catholic church in Greeneville, was dedicated in March 1845. It was enlarged in 1858. St. Mary's parish continued to grow into the late 1860s, when Father James Mullen recognized that a new church was needed to address the overcrowding.
