Felipe Padilla De León
Felipe Padilla de León (May 1, 1912 – December 5, 1992) was a Filipino classical music composer, conductor, and scholar. He was known for composing different sonatas, marches and concertos that reflect the Filipino identity. De Leon was also recognized as a composer who experienced different regime change throughout the course of his lifetime. From the Commonwealth period up to the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos, his music became a representation of Filipino ideals and aspirations throughout the ages of Philippine history. Early life and career De Leon was the third of four children by the second marriage of his mother Natalia Padilla to Juan de Leon. His father died when he was three years old, leaving his mother to raise him and his elder half-brother, Pedro P. San Diego. General Tinio, Nueva Ecija
General Tinio, officially the Municipality of General Tinio ( tl, Bayan ng Heneral Tinio, Ilocano: ''Ili ti Heneral Tinio''), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 55,925 people. It was known as Papaya until 1957. Diwa de Leon is a composer, arranger and musician based in Maryland, United States. He makes music mainly for television shows, films, and stage productions, with his most notable work the arrangement of GMA Network's ''Survivor Philippines'' theme music. Bagong Pagsilang
"Bagong Pagsilang" ( en, New Birth Rebirth), also known as "Bagong Lipunan" ( en, New Society) and the "March of the New Society", is a Filipino song commissioned during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos that explicitly extols the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan or New Society Movement introduced by Marcos upon the declaration of martial law in 1972. The lyrics were written by Levi Celerio and the music was composed by Felipe Padilla de León in 1973. The anthem is not to be confused with "Awit sa Bagong Lipunan" (English: "Hymn to the New Society" or "Hymn of the New Society", among other title variations), which was written by the same composer. ''Noli Me Tangere'' (''Touch Me Not)'' is an opera in 3 acts by Felipe Padilla de León with libretto by Guillermo Tolentino. The opera was closely based on a novel by José Rizal by the same name. The opera was sung entirely in Tagalog and is considered as the first full-length Filipino opera. Composition history The librettist wrote the libretto during the war and the composer started writing the opera in 1953. However two arias from the opera, Maria Clara's "Kay Tamis ng Buhay" and Sisa's "Awit ng Gabi" were written earlier, with the former being written in 1949 and the latter written in 1952 for Fides Cuyugan-Asensio's Graduation Recital. Francisco Santiago Santiago (January 29, 1889 – September 28, 1947) was a Filipino musician, sometimes called ''The Father of Kundiman Art Song''. Lucio Diestro San Pedro, Sr. (February 11, 1913 – March 31, 2002) was a Filipino composer and teacher who was proclaimed a National Artist of the Philippines for Music in 1991.
