Fatou "Toufah" Jallow (''Fatou A. Jallow'', born April 19, 1996, in Soma, Gambia, Soma) is a Gambian beauty queen. She became known for her accusations in 2014 against Gambian President Yahya Jammeh. Life Jallow belongs to the Fulbe ethnic group. Her parents are Alpha Jallow and Awa Saho. She attended Nusrat Senior Secondary School up through 12th grade. In 2014, she won the title of Miss July 22 in the national beauty pageant organized by Gambian Dictator Yahya Jammeh. At this time she was 18 years old. In September 2014 she started a teacher training course at The Gambia College in Brikama. Soma, Gambia
Soma is a town in The Gambia, lying south of the River Gambia. It is an important crossroads, where the main east–west road in the country crosses the Trans-Gambia Highway and it also sits between Northern and Southern Senegal. Ousman Rambo Jatta
Ousman Rambo Jatta (born 13 June 1969), known as Rambo, is a Gambian politician. He is currently a councillor in Old Bakau and deputy leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC). Political career Jatta was a member of the United Democratic Party (UDP). In 2006, he protested against suspected misconduct in the Gambian presidential election. He claimed that a group of people travelling in army vehicles on their way to vote were, instead of Gambian soldiers, non-Gambians dressed in military uniforms. As a result of this allegation, Jatta was arrested on 23 September. He was defended by UDP party leader and human rights lawyer Ousainou Darboe. Jatta was held in prison for a year. The Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) is a truth commission in The Gambia to investigate the Yahya Jammeh era from 1994 to 2017. The process from the announcement of the commission to its launch lasted from 20 July 2017 to 15 October 2018. Its executive secretary is Baba Galleh Jallow, its lead counsel is Essa M. Fabakary Tombong Jatta (born 16 November 1952) is a Gambian politician who has served as Speaker of the National Assembly since 2022 and the leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) since 2017. Early life and career Jatta was born on 16 November 1952 in Albreda, Gambia. He was educated at Armitage High School and Yundum College (1970–1973). Alliance For Patriotic Reorientation And Construction
The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) is a political party in The Gambia. Founded by army officers who staged a coup in 1994, it was the dominant ruling party from 1996 until 2016 with president Yahya Jammeh. History It was formed in 1996 to support army leader Yahya Jammeh's campaign for the 1996 elections. It generally garners high support among voters from Jammeh's Jola ethnic group.
