Fager Er Lien
''Fager er lien'' (Fair Is the Hillside) is a Norwegian romantic silent film from 1925 directed by Harry Ivarson (his second feature film after his debut with ''Til sæters'' in 1924). Ivarson also wrote the screenplay. The film belongs to the national romantic period of the 1920s. The title is a reference to the thirteenth-century '' Njáls saga''. Before the film was released, six meters of footage showing dancing were edited out. The film is now considered lost. Plot Aase lives with her grandfather in a cabin on a hill. Life seems sad and poor to her. The best thing she knows is to sit at dusk and dream. Aase is fond of Kaare, who works on a large estate nearby. The estate owner, Fredrik-August Reventlow, is also interested in Aase and does not give up even though she has rejected his invitations. Harry Ivarson
Harry Ivarson (September 7, 1892 – 1967) was a Norwegian film director and screenwriter. Ivarson was born in Chicago, the son of the actor William Ivarson and actress Anna Ivarson. In addition to Harry, the couple had a son Wictor (born in 1893) and a daughter Borghild (born in 1895). In 1910 the family lived in Årstad. Ivarson studied film in the United States and Germany. He debuted as a director and screenwriter in Germany in 1923 with the film ''Wenn Männer richten'' under the pseudonym Harry Williams. He continued his career in Norway with the films '' Til sæters'' (1924), '' Fager er lien'' (1925), '' Simen Mustrøens besynderlige opplevelser'' (1926), '' Madame besøker Oslo'' (1927), and ''Den glade enke i Trangvik'' (1927), which was his last silent film. Frithjof Fearnley
Frithjof Fearnley (December 16, 1896 – April 18, 1971) was a Norwegian actor. Fearnley was born in Oslo, Kristiania (now Oslo). He debuted in 1920 in a traveling theater with Hauk Aabel and Harald Stormoen, and he later worked at Chat Noir, the Mayol Theater, the Casino Theater, the Den Nationale Scene, National Theater in Bergen, the Trøndelag Teater, Trøndelag Theater, the Centralteatret, Central Theater, and the Riksteatret, National Traveling Theater, and in a number of private traveling theaters. He performed extensively in lighter repertoire, but he also played Aegeus in ''Medea (play), Medea'', Mephistopheles in ''Faust'', and Professor Higgins in ''Pygmalion (play), Pygmalion''. ''Til sæters'' (To the Mountain Pastures) is a Norwegian silent comedy film from 1924 directed by Harry Ivarson (his first Norwegian film). He also wrote the screenplay based on Claus Pavels Riis's 1850 musical ''Til Sæters: dramatisk Idyl med Sange'' (To the Mountain Pastures: A Dramatic Idyll with Singing). The plot of the musical was very thin and mostly served as an excuse to link together various dance performances accompanied by well-known Norwegian folk melodies.
