FM4
FM4 is an Austrian national radio station operated by the ORF. Its main target is the youth audience, and much of the music output is characterised by an alternative rock and electronic music slant. Programmimg The programming of ''FM4'' is also notable for its high level of spoken word content, much of which is produced in the English language. Morning programmes, including the current affairs-based ''Reality Check'' and ''Update'', are broadcast in English while afternoon shows ''Connected'' and ''Homebase'' are German-speaking. News updates in French were also transmitted twice a day up until 2019 when they were discontinued due to reduced demand. FM4 Frequency Festival
The FM4 Frequency Festival, also Frequency Festival or just Frequency, formerly Vienna City Festival, is a music festival. Until 2008, it took place near Salzburg Austria, usually every August. In 2009, the Festival moved to St. Pölten. It is promoted by one of Austria's national radio stations, FM4, and is generally associated with the alternative part of mainstream music. The lineups accumulate acts of various genres such as rock, electronica and hip hop, usually covering great parts of the German and Austrian alternative, indie and guitar pop scenes, but also featuring well-known international top acts. Johannes Grenzfurthner (; born 1975 in Vienna) is an Austrian artist, filmmaker, writer, actor, curator, theatre director, performer and lecturer. Grenzfurthner is the founder, conceiver and artistic director of ''monochrom'', an international art and theory group and film production company. Most of his artworks are labeled ''monochrom''. Grenzfurthner is an outspoken researcher in subversive and underground culture, for example the field of sexuality and technology, and one of the founders of "techno-hedonism". Boing Boing magazine referred to Grenzfurthner as ''leitnerd'', a wordplay with the German term Leitkultur that ironically hints at Grenzfurthner's role in nerd/hacker/art culture. Blue Danube Radio (BDR) was an English-language radio station broadcast by the Österreichischer Rundfunk ( en, Austrian Broadcasting; ORF). History Blue Danube Radio went live on 23 August 1979, created principally for the United Nations community at UNO-City in Vienna. It was popular with many Austrian people too. The name "Blue Danube" was also previously used by the unrelated radio station operated by American Forces Network (AFN) and the 5th United States Army in the American-occupied zone of Austria between 1945 and 1955. From 1995, it shared airtime with FM4, which eventually completely took over on 1 February 2000. Kitzbüheler Horn Transmitter
The Kitzbüheler Horn Transmitter (german: Sender Kitzbüheler Horn) is a transmission tower made of reinforced concrete on the summit of the Kitzbüheler Horn near Kitzbühel in Austria. The Kitzbühler Horn Transmitter does not have a cylindrical shaft. It broadcasts TV and VHF radio programmes. Vorarlberg ( , ; gsw, label= Vorarlbergisch, Vorarlbearg, , or ) is the westernmost state () of Austria. It has the second-smallest geographical area after Vienna and, although it also has the second-smallest population, it is the state with the second-highest population density (also after Vienna). SES Astra SA was a corporate subsidiary of SES, based in Betzdorf, in eastern Luxembourg, that maintained and operated the Astra series of geostationary communication satellites between 2001 and 2011. Styria
