FC Gareji is a Georgia (country), Georgian Association football club from Sagarejo, which currently takes part in Erovnuli Liga 2, the second tier of Georgia (country), Georgian football league. The team has recently made headlines after achieving three consecutive promotions. History Established in 1960, during the USSR, Soviet period Gareji for many years participated in Georgian republican championship and later, after 1990, spent several seasons in the second and third divisions. A recent rise of the team started from Regionuli Liga in 2018. Apart from winning its Group East, Gareji also secured an easy win in a home-and-away Playoffs, play-off tie against their 2018 Liga 3 (Georgia), Liga 3 opponents. As members of the newly created Liga 4 (Georgia), Liga 4, they finished just below the promotion zone, which was still widely regarded as success for the debutants. Sagarejo
Sagarejo ( ka, საგარეჯო) is a town in Kakheti, Georgia. It is situated east of Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, and has the population of 10,871 (2014 census). It serves as an administrative center of the Sagarejo district. The town is traditionally considered a chief settlement of the Gare-Kakheti area (Outer Kakheti). The settlement is first mentioned in written records in the 11th century under the name of Tvali, literally meaning "an eye". Later, it came to be known as Sagarejo, i.e., "of Gareja", indicating that the area was owned by the David Gareja monastery. It acquired the town's status in 1962. The fortified ruins of the ancient Ninotsminda Cathedral are located near Sagarejo. The 2018 Georgian Cup was a single elimination association football tournament which began on 16 April 2018 and ended on 25 November 2018. Chikhura Sachkhere were the defending champions of the tournament after winning the previous season's cup 4–3 in a penalty shootout over Torpedo Kutaisi. Largely known for his successful tenure at WIT Georgia, in the late 2000s Klimiashvili was a member of the national team as well. Career As a footballer, Irakli Klimiashvili grew up at WIT Georgia, one of the most decorated Georgian teams in the first decade of XXI century. FC Samgurali Tsqaltubo is a Georgian association football club from Tsqaltubo, which takes part in Erovnuli Liga, the first tier of the national league. They have been runners-up of the Georgian Cup three times. FC Locomotive Tbilisi is a Georgian football club from the capital, Tbilisi. During the existence of the USSR the club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. The club has strong connections with the Georgian Railways. History Locomotive was founded on 14 August 1936 as a part of Lokomotiv sports society. The club won Georgian championship in 1937, which gave them the permission to participate in USSR Top League. The 2022 Georgian Cup was a single knock-out football tournament, organized by Georgian Football Federation.
