Furbaz
Furbaz are a Switzerland, Swiss vocal group consisting of members Marie Louise Werth, Giusep Quinter, Ursin Defuns and Gion Defuns, who perform mainly in the Romansh language. The group was formed in 1983 in Disentis/Mustér, Disentis, Graubünden, remaining active until the early 1990s. They then reunited in 2004, and continue performing together. Furbaz are best known internationally for their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 Eurovision Song Contest Furbaz first took part in the Swiss Eurovision selection in 1987, finishing third with "Da cumpignia". They tried again the following year, coming second (behind Celine Dion) with "Sentiments". Viver Senza Tei
Switzerland was represented by Furbaz, with the song "Viver senza tei", at the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 6 May in Lausanne, following Céline Dion's victory for Switzerland the previous year. Furbaz was the winner of the Swiss national final for the contest, held on 18 February. Before Eurovision National final The Swiss German broadcaster Schweizer Fernsehen, SF DRS was in charge of broadcasting the Swiss National final for the 1989 contest. The final was held at the Theater Casino in Zug, hosted by Raymond Fein. The Eurovision Song Contest 1989 was the 34th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, following Céline Dion's victory at the with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi". Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR), the contest was held at Palais de Beaulieu on 6 May 1989 and was hosted by Swiss model Lolita Morena and journalist Jacques Deschenaux. Twenty-two countries took part in the contest with returning after having been disqualified the year before. The winner was with the song " Rock Me" by Croatian band Riva. This was the only victory for Yugoslavia as a unified state. As of 2022 they are still the last act to win the contest performing last. Egon Egemann (born Egon Lackner; 1963 in Graz) studied classical violin and Jazz at Graz Music Academy in Austria. He settled in Switzerland following studies in Boston, USA and founded the Egon Family Orchestra. Disentis (German) or Mustér (, Romansh), with its official name Disentis/Mustér is a village and a municipality in the Surselva Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The skiing and summer tourism resort high up in the Rhine valley is the site of one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Switzerland.
