Fujita (company)
Fujita (藤田) is a Japanese conglomerate based in Osaka. History Fujita was founded by Densaburo Fujita, who created a ''zaibatsu'' (pre-war conglomerate) by producing military goods during the Satsuma Rebellion and rapidly expanded his business to construction, mining, and other businesses. After World War II, the Allied Occupation authorities broke up the zaibatsu conglomerates. Many of the assets of the Fujita zaibatsu were placed in the custody of Fujita Kankō, a resort development company. This has since become the central body of the Fuhita ''keiretsu'' (post-war conglomerate). Osaka
is a designated city in the Kansai region of Honshu in Japan. Zaibatsu
is a Japanese language, Japanese term referring to industrial and financial vertical integration, vertically integrated business conglomerate (company), conglomerates in the Empire of Japan, whose influence and size allowed control over significant parts of the Japanese economy from the Meiji period until the end of World War II. A ''zaibatsu'' general structure included a family-owned holding company on top, and a bank which financed the other, mostly industrial subsidiaries within them. Although the ''zaibatsu'' played an important role in the Japanese economy from the 1860s to 1945, they increased in number and importance following the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905, World War I and Japan's subsequent attempt to conquer East Asia during the inter-war period and World War II. Satsuma Rebellion
The Satsuma Rebellion, also known as the was a revolt of disaffected samurai against the new imperial government, nine years into the Meiji Era. Its name comes from the Satsuma Domain, which had been influential in the Restoration and became home to unemployed samurai after military reforms rendered their status obsolete. The rebellion lasted from January 29, 1877, until September of that year, when it was decisively crushed, and its leader, Saigō Takamori, was shot and mortally wounded. Saigō's rebellion was the last and most serious of a series of armed uprisings against the new government of the Empire of Japan, the predecessor state to modern Japan. The rebellion was very expensive for the government, which forced it to make numerous monetary reforms including leaving the gold standard. Fujita Kankō () is one of the leading companies in the hospitality industry in Japan, and operates such prominent hotels as the Hotel Chinzanso in Tokyo and Kowaku-en ( 小涌園) in Hakone, and owns the WHG Hotels (WHGホテルズ) in major cities of Japan. In General Fujita Kankō was established in 1955 as a spin-off from Fujita Kōgyō () of Fujita zaibatsu.
