Fuglsangshus, formerly known as Slotsgartnerens (English: The Palace Gardener's House), is a listed, 18th-century house situated on the old main street (Gammel Hovedgade 2) in Hørsholm, Denmark. It is now operated as an exhibition space by Hørsholm Municipality in collaboration with local associations. It was built for the gardener at Hirschholm Palace. The small unimposing house is built with timber framing and has a hip roof#Half-hip roof, half-hip tile roof with a wall dormer on each side. It was listed in 1950 but moved 300 as the result of a road extension in the late 1970s. History When Sophie Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach became queen of Denmark in 1730, her husband, Christian VI of Denmark, Christian VI, bestowed the extensive Hirschholm Palace, Hørsholm Estate to her in compliance with a tradition which had existed since the middle of the 17th century. Hørsholm
Hørsholm () is an urban area on the Øresund coast approximately north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It covers most of Hørsholm Municipality and straddles the borders neighbouring Fredensborg Municipality and Rudersdal Municipality. Hørsholm proper is developed around Hirschholm Palace, which was constructed in the 1730s, but the town has later absorbed several of the nearby communities that are of much older origins. History Palace and market town Hørsholm was founded in connection with the construction of Hirschholm Palace. Niels Eigtved created a plan for a residence town in 1737 and to stimulate its growth, it was given status as market town in 1739. However, it never came to serve as a market town and was still only a small settlement when the palace was demolished between 1810 and 1816. Hørsholm Municipality
Hørsholm Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the Copenhagen Capital Region in the northern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 31 km², and has a total population of 25,007 (1 April 2019). Its mayor as of 2010 is Morten Slotved, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti''). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hørsholm. Hirschholm Palace
Hirschholm Palace, also known as Hørsholm Palace, was a royal palace located in present-day Hørsholm municipality just north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 1740s and, one of the finest buildings of its time, it became known as the "Versailles of the North". It developed a notorious reputation in connection with its role in the affair between Johann Friedrich Struensee and Queen Caroline Mathilda in the 1770s. After that it fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1809–1813. Sophie Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach (28 November 1700 – 27 May 1770) was Queen of Denmark and Norway by marriage to King Christian VI of Denmark and Norway. Christian VI Of Denmark
Christian VI (30 November 1699 – 6 August 1746) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1730 to 1746. The eldest surviving son of Frederick IV and Louise of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, he is considered one of Denmark-Norway's more anonymous kings, but he was a skilled politician, best known for his authoritarian regime. He was the first king of the Oldenburg dynasty to refrain from entering in any war. During his reign both compulsory confirmation (1736) and a public, nationwide school system (1739) were introduced. Hørsholm Local History Museum
Hørsholm Local History Museum is a local history, local history museum in Hørsholm, Denmark. Location The museum is based in a building from 1723 which was designed by crown prince Christian VI of Denmark, Christian (VI). It served as residence for the estate manager (''godsforvalteren'') at Hørsholm crown estate which belonged under Hirschholm Palace. It later served as residence for the county manager (''Amtsforvalteren''). Hirschholm Palace was torn down in about 1810 but a number of buildings associated with the palace. The museum's neighbouring building, known as ''Vognremisen'', used to house the palace's carriages. It now contains the local archives. The current rectory on the opposite side of the street was originally a cow stable. Its neighbouring buildings, which now houses the Danish Museum of Hunting and Forestry, were originally barns and stables.
