Froge.tour
Froge.tour () is a nine-date tour by the English band Piri & Tommy. Released to promote their mixtape '' Froge.mp3'', the tour began on 2 November 2022 at Belgrave Music Hall and ended on 19 November 2022 at The Warehouse Project. Sets included most of ''Froge.mp3'', several future singles, and cover versions of Chic's " Everybody Dance" and Crystal Waters's " Gypsy Woman". Their Brighton gig was opened by Coupdekat, while their London gig was opened by Maisi and contained pole dancing and Parthenope. These three gigs were between them reviewed by Alexis Petridis and reviewers from '' LeftLion'', ''Brighton & Hove News'', and ''Gigwise'', who gave what they saw a mixed reception. Background Piri, who had learned pole dancing while studying chemistry at Lancaster University, met Tommy Villiers in 2020 just before the second United Kingdom COVID-19 lockdown. ''Froge.mp3'' () is the debut mixtape by Piri & Tommy. It charted at No. 13 on the UK Dance Albums Chart. Released on 21 October 2022 and on vinyl on 22 April 2023 on Polydor Records, the album contains previous singles " Soft Spot", " Beachin", " Words", and " On & On" and eight further tracks about the pair, and was released to overwhelmingly positive critical reception. The album was promoted by a nine-date tour, Froge.tour, and a twelve-episode YouTube Shorts series, ''Froge.tv''. Critical reception was broadly positive, with ''Gigwise'' describing the album as the 45th best album of 2022, and ''NME'' rating it amongst the twenty best mixtapes and EPs of 2022. Coupdekat
Katherine Reilly, known professionally as Coupdekat (), is an English musician. She is best known for cofounding Loud LDN with Maisi, but has also released two EPs and has supported Piri & Tommy on their Froge.tour. Life and career Early life Reilly was born in Luton and studied art and photography at A-level. She started playing the guitar when she was ten, and started writing when she was 14; her first works were about love and heartbreak. She was a member of several bands, including Electric Blue, which was previously known as Sunseed and dissolved during COVID-19 lockdown in the United Kingdom, lockdown. She spent this period living in Leighton Buzzard, and after lockdown lifted, spent a year in Paris as an au pair, where she met several people who encouraged her to make music on her own; her stage name, Coupdekat (), was inspired by her time there. Charlie Deakin Davies
Charlie Helen Deakin Davies (born 9 June 1995) is a British musician from Walkern. They have released an EP, ''Green'', under the name DIDI, and the singles "Easy" featuring Piri and "Bumped in the Head" featuring Ellie Dixon as Charlieeeee. They have also co-written the Gary Barlow song "Let's Get Drunk" from the album ''Music Played by Humans'', co-produced the Ellie Dixon song "Swing", the Kate Dimbleby album ''Songbirds'', and the compilation album ''The F Spot Femme Fatales'', directed the Piri & Tommy tour Froge.tour, and supported China Crisis. Tommy Villiers
Thomas George Villiers is a musician from Saffron Walden. While best known for his work with Piri and as part of Piri & Tommy, he is also noted for his membership of Porij and See Thru Hands, and as a solo musician and remixer in his own right. He is the great-great-great-great-grandson of the British Prime Minister John Russell, 1st Earl Russell. Life and career Early life Thomas George Villiers was born to Hugo Villiers and Elizabeth Shaw, and has an older brother Hamish and a younger brother Angus, a jockey. Parthenope Wald-Harding
Parthenope Ann Wald-Harding () (born 2002), usually credited as Parthenope is a musician from Swillington, England. She is best known for her cover of Norah Jones's "Don't Know Why", and is a member of Loud LDN. Early life Parthenope Ann Wald-Harding () was born in 2002 in Swillington and attended Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, where she studied jazz saxophone, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her mother, Hayley, worked in a music centre. Wald-Harding was initially a violinist, which she played from the age of eleven after being gifted an 1804 Joseph Strauss by a violin teacher, but switched to alto saxophone after hearing her sister, Milly, play with a jazz ensemble, and after her mother received a shipment of instruments to sell, including an alto saxophone which she found she could not shift. "On & On" (stylised in lowercase) is a liquid drum and bass song by Piri & Tommy, from their mixtape '' Froge.mp3''. Released on 28 July 2022 on Polydor Records, it charted at No. 99 on the UK Singles Chart, and has appeared on a number of year-end best of lists. Background and composition Between 2021 and 2022, Piri & Tommy released three singles on EMI, " Soft Spot", " Beachin", and "Words". In June 2022, Piri & Tommy signed to Polydor Records, and on 28 July 2022, they released "On & On", which had been written shortly after the pair attended that year's Parklife Festival, a festival Piri would herself play in June 2023. "On & On" is a liquid drum and bass song; Villiers lifted the song's drums from an earlier jump-up track which, according to Villiers, featured "grotty Belgian bass".
