''Friends and Lovers'' is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Bernard Butler, released on 25 October 1999 through Creation Records. He released his debut studio album, '' People Move On'', in early 1998; within a few months, Butler had accumulated enough material for his next release. Recorded between November 1998 and February 1999, Butler produced the sessions at RAK Studios in London, before moving to Chipping Norton Recording Studios in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, and finishing at Konk Studios in London. Described as a pop rock release, ''Friends and Lovers'' had been compared to the works of Mott the Hoople, Small Faces and Spooky Tooth. ''Friends and Lovers'' received generally favourable reviews from critics, several of whom considered it an improvement on ''People Move On''. Alan John McGee (born 29 September 1960) is a Scottish businessman and music industry executive. He has been a record label owner, musician, manager, and music blogger for ''The Guardian''. He co-founded the independent Creation Records label, running it from 1983 until its closure in 1999. He subsequently founded the Poptones label, running it from 1999 to 2007. Andy Wallace (born 1947 in New Jersey) is an American music studio producer, audio and mixing engineer with a long track record of productions. Over the years, he focused exclusively on mixing. Wallace is known for his "sonically influential presence on the current music scene", and has "helped to make some of the most brutal, aggressive music released and also some of the most beautiful". ''The Face'' is a British music, fashion, and culture monthly magazine originally published from 1980 to 2004, and relaunched in 2019. Factory Records was a Manchester-based British independent record label founded in 1978 by Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus. The label featured several important acts on its roster, including Joy Division, New Order, A Certain Ratio, the Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Northside, and (briefly) Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and James. Hopper were an English indie rock band formed in 1992. They first signed to Damaged Goods (the label that released the Manic Street Preachers' first official single). James are an English rock band from Manchester, who were formed in 1982. They had popularity throughout the 1990s, with four top 10s on the UK Singles Chart and nine top 10s on the UK Albums Chart. He is the lead singer and co-founder of the indie rock band James, and co-wrote several of their hit singles including " Sit Down", " Come Home", and " Laid". As an actor, Booth is best known for portraying Victor Zsasz in the 2005 film ''Batman Begins''.
