Friedrich Dingeldey
Friedrich Dingeldey (16 December 1859, Darmstadt – 24 September 1939, Darmstadt) was a German mathematician. Education and career After secondary education at Ludwig Georgs Gymnasium in Darmstadt, Dingeldey studied at the universities of Giessen, Leipzig and Munich. From 1886 to 1892 he worked as a teacher in Darmstadt and Groß-Gerau. In 1885 Dingeldey received his PhD (Promotierung), with primary supervisor Felix Klein and co-supervisor Carl Neumann, from the University of Leipzig with thesis ''Über die Erzeugung von Curven vierter Ordnung durch Bewegungsmechanismen''. In 1889 he completed his habilitation at the TH Darmstadt with a habilitation thesis on knot theory entitled ''Über einen neuen topologischen Process und die Entstehungsbedingungen einfacher Verbindungen und Knoten in gewissen geschlossenen Flächen''. Wilhelm Fiedler
Otto Wilhelm Fiedler (3 April 1832 in Chemnitz – 19 November 1912 in Zurich) was a German-Swiss mathematician, known for his textbooks of geometry and his contributions to descriptive geometry. Life Fiedler was the son of a shoemaker. He went to the Royal Mercantile College in Chemnitz and in 1849 to the Bergakademie Freiberg as an external student. In 1852 he became a mathematics teacher at the "Werkmeisterschule" in Freiberg and 1853 at the "Gewerbeschule" in Chemnitz. He had to take care of his widowed mother and his siblings, and educated himself without directly attending a university. George Salmon
George Salmon FBA FRS FRSE (25 September 1819 – 22 January 1904) was a distinguished and influential Irish mathematician and Anglican theologian. After working in algebraic geometry for two decades, Salmon devoted the last forty years of his life to theology. His entire career was spent at Trinity College Dublin. Personal life Salmon was born in Dublin, to Michael Salmon and Helen Weekes (the daughter of the Reverend Edward Weekes), but he spent his boyhood in Cork City, where his father Michael was a linen merchant. He attended Hamblin and Porter's School there before starting at Trinity College in 1833. In 1837 he won a scholarship and graduated from Trinity in 1839 with first-class honours in mathematics.
