Fried Egg Records
Fried Egg Records was a record label set up in 1979 by Andy Leighton, administrator of the Bristol-based Crystal Theatre. Its first release was by the Theatres anarchic "house band" Shoes For Industry. In its short two-year existence the label did manage to produce records from some of Bristols' more notable bands, plus a compilation LP, 1. Artists * Art Objects: New wave "art band" (1978–1981). Fronted by Bristol beat poet Gerard Langley, brother John Langley on drums, dancer Wojtek Dmochowski (all later of Blue Aeroplanes), Bill Stair, and brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (both simultaneously in the band Various Artists). Brahman (band)
Brahman (stylized as BRAHMAN) is a Japanese punk band formed in Tokyo in 1995. They are known for mixing hardcore with folk music. History Brahman formed in 1995, when the band that Toshi-Low and Daisuke were in and the band that Ronzi and Makoto were in both disbanded, and the four musicians hit it off about the musical direction they wanted to go in. Their name comes from the Sanskrit word ''Brahman'' meaning "absolute reality", and represents their ethos of bringing Asian influences to the Western punk genre, including Okinawan, folk and gypsy music. After the 1996 release of the mini-album ''Grope Our Way'', Daisuke left the band. The mini-album ''Wait and Wait'' was released in 1997, after which, guitarist Kohki joined. Their first studio album, 1998's ''A Man of the World'', sold over 600,000 copies. In 2001, Brahman released the album ''A Forlorn Hope'', which sold over 500,000 copies. Nick Sheppard
Nick Sheppard is a British guitarist. He played lead guitar for The Clash from 1983 until the band's breakup in 1986. Life and career Sheppard was educated at Bristol Grammar School, one of Bristol's leading public schools, and was in the same year as fellow musician Mark Stewart of The Pop Group. He started at 16 with The Cortinas, named after a well-known British car, the Ford Cortina. The band moved from R&B towards covering songs by punk forerunners like the New York Dolls and The Stooges. "In retrospect, I suppose we were very hip," Sheppard says. "We were listening to the right records, as we were right there at the right time." The Cortinas' singles, "Fascist Dictator" and "Defiant Pose" both appeared on Step Forward, the label run by Police manager Miles Copeland, as did their only album "True Romances".
