Fresno (Amtrak Station)
The Santa Fe Passenger Depot, also known as Fresno station, is an historic railroad station and transportation hub in downtown Fresno, California. It is served by ''San Joaquins'' inter-city passenger trains, Greyhound inter-city buses, and regional transit services including Fresno Area Express, Fresno County Rural Transit Agency, and seasonally by the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System. History The station was built in 1899 for the San Francisco and San Joaquin Valley Railroad (SF&SJV) and was designed by William Benson Storey for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (ATSF or Santa Fe). It is very similar to the Stockton – San Joaquin Street Station. The station was once the Santa Fe's Valley Division Headquarters, and was expanded or renovated nine times between 1908 and 1985. The Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center is a convention center located in Fresno, California. The four-building complex was originally made up of three main venues when completed in 1966, and underwent several expansions with the latest additions in 1981 and 1999. Selland Arena Named after former Fresno mayor Arthur L. Selland, the Selland Arena is a multi-purpose arena with a seating capacity of more than 9,000. Chukchansi Park, formerly known as Grizzlies Stadium, is a city-owned baseball stadium located in Fresno, California, United States, completed in 2002 as the home for Minor League Baseball's Fresno Grizzlies. The first game was May 1, 2002. California State Route 180
State Route 180 (SR 180) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California. It runs through the heart of the San Joaquin Valley from State Route 33 in Mendota through Fresno, and then east towards the Sierra Nevada to Kings Canyon National Park. An unbuilt segment of SR 180 is defined west to Paicines. Nearly the entire stretch from the Kings River crossing to Cedar Grove is eligible for the State Scenic Highway System, and nearly the entire route from Paicines to Cedar Grove is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System. Two segments travel through national parks, so are not state maintained and are thus exceptions to the above: a segment through the General Grant Grove section of Kings Canyon National Park, and the far eastern end of the road inside of Kings Canyon National Park. California State Route 41
State Route 41 (SR 41) is a state highway in California, connecting the Central Coast with the San Joaquin Valley and the Sierra Nevada. Its western terminus is at the Cabrillo Highway ( SR 1) in Morro Bay, and its eastern terminus is at SR 140 in Yosemite National Park. It has been constructed as an expressway from near SR 198 in Lemoore north to the south part of Fresno, where the Yosemite Freeway begins, passing along the east side of downtown and extending north into Madera County. A controlled-access highway is a type of highway that has been designed for high-speed vehicular traffic, with all traffic flow—ingress and egress—regulated. Fresno City Hall is a Post-modern Futurist structure in Fresno, California designed by architect Arthur Erickson. The building serves as the seat of city government, and the location of the mayor's office and the Fresno City Council chambers. Architecture Canadian architect Arthur Erickson designed the look of the City Hall building for local architect William Patnaude. Erickson also designed One California Plaza in Los Angeles, California and the Embassy of Canada in Washington, D.C., among other notable works. The Fresno City Hall building anchors the northern end of the "Mariposa Mall", a twelve-block civic corridor which ends with the Fresno County Courthouse on the southern end. Storey (known as Madera by Amtrak) was an unstaffed train station located in the unincorporated community of Storey, and about southeast of the Fresno River, in Madera County, California, United States. Just prior to its closure in November 2010 and replacement by the new Madera station, this station was served by Amtrak's (the National Railroad Passenger Corporation) '' San Joaquin''. Prior to Amtrak, this station was also previously served by Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad's (ATSF) ''San Francisco Chief'' and its Oakland-Barstow Line. Description The Storey Station (Madera) was located at Avenue 15½ at 29th Road.
