"Freek'n You" is a song by American R&B group Jodeci recorded for their third album, '' The Show, the After Party, the Hotel'' (1995). It was released as the album's first single in June 1995 by Uptown and MCA Records. The song was both written and produced by DeVante Swing, and peaked at number 14 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Listed by ''Billboard'' magazine as one of the best selling singles of 1995, it was certified gold by the RIAA for sales in excess of 500,000 units. The official remix, produced by Mr. Dalvin, features Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. They performed the remix version live with Jodeci (minus DeVante Swing) during the 200th episode of Showtime at the Apollo in February 1996. It features three models in the video: Veronica Webb, Beverly Peele, and Kara Young. Jodeci ( ) is an American Contemporary R&B, R&B quartet consisting of members DeVanté Swing, Dalvin DeGrate, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci, and K-Ci & JoJo, JoJo. Formed in 1988 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jodeci began as a duo of DeVanté Swing and JoJo but later each added their brothers. After signing with Uptown Records in 1990, the group finished work on their debut album, ''Forever My Lady'' (1991), which brought them mainstream success with three straight R&B/Hip-Hop songs, ''Billboard'' R&B No. 1 hit singles: Forever My Lady (song), the album's titular track, "Stay (Jodeci song), Stay" and "Come and Talk to Me". Club Asylum is the name of UK garage musician Jeremy Sylvester. They were originally a duo which consisted of Sylvester and Paul Emanuel. After the duo decided to go their separate ways, Sylvester continued to produce and remix under the Club Asylum moniker as a solo artist, and is still active to the present day. Biography Sylvester and Emanuel first met during the early days of the UK garage scene at the London-based house and garage label Nice 'N' Ripe. UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house and jungle production methods, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop and R&B. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. Andre O’Neal Harrell (September 26, 1960 – May 7, 2020) was an American record executive, media proprietor, and former rapper. He formed the short-lived East Coast hip hop duo Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde with Alonzo Brown in 1980; they signed with Profile Records the following year. Dalvin Ertimus DeGrate (born July 23, 1971), better known by his stage name Mr. Dalvin, is an American R&B and soul singer, songwriter, record producer, and rapper. He is one-quarter of the R&B group Jodeci, and the younger brother of Jodeci member DeVante Swing. It ran from 1978 to 2006, and, after initially appearing monthly, was issued fortnightly during most of that time.
