Freedom (Eric Chou Album)
''Freedom'' () is the first EP and fourth studio album by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Eric Chou, released by Sony Music Taiwan on 10 January 2019. The deluxe edition of the EP was released as the studio album on 24 December 2019. The tracks were inspired by Western pop music Chou grew up with when he studied in the United States. The work demonstrates Chou's creative energy, representing music from his debut to the present by further exploring the EDM genre and R&B. Background and release Chou participated in the Tencent competition ''Chao Yin Idols'' in August 2018. He co-wrote the song "What's Wrong" with Chinese singer and actor Wu Jiacheng, writing the verse and the bridge parts. The song is inspired by Chinese singer Su Yunying's "Fairy" from her debut album ''Ming Ming''. The live version performed by Chou, Wu, and Su, which included the chorus of the song "Fairy" was released digitally on Chinese streaming platforms on the same month. Eric Chou (; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: Chiu Hin-chet, born 22 June 1995) is a Taiwanese singer, songwriter and actor. He has been dubbed by the Taiwanese media as "king of the lovelorn people". Chou's self-composed smash hit "The Distance of Love", the ending theme of the 2014 Taiwanese drama The Way We Were (2014 TV series), ''The Way We Were'', where he also made a cameo, reached 100 million views on YouTube, making Chou the youngest Mandopop artist to reach the feat at that time. Mandopop
Mandopop or Mandapop refers to Standard Chinese, Mandarin popular music. The genre has its origin in the jazz-influenced popular music of 1930s Shanghai known as Shidaiqu; with later influences coming from Japanese enka, Hong Kong's Cantopop, Taiwan's Hokkien pop, and in particular the School campus song, Campus Song folk movement of the 1970s. 'Mandopop' may be used as a general term to describe popular songs performed in Mandarin. ''The Chaos After You'' () is the third studio album by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Eric Chou, released by Sony Music Taiwan Sony Music Entertainment (SME), also known as simply Sony Music, is an American multinational music company. Being owned by the parent conglomerate Sony Group Corporation, it is part of the Sony Music Group, which is owned by Sony Entertainment ... on 15 December 2017. Pre-orders for the album opened on 17 and 18 November, coinciding with his second concert tour "22 TWENTY TWO". The album marked Chou's first time as production coordinator and producer of his own work. Chou flew to Sweden to collaborate with Swedish producer Freddy Häggstam in four songs, and continued to experiment with different musical styles such as EDM. Su Yunying (; born 8 April 1991), also known as Sue Su, is a Chinese singer-songwriter of Li ethnicity. Su was born and raised in Sanya, Hainan.
