Free Homeland Alliance
The Free Homeland Alliance ( hy, Ազատ հայրենիք դաշինք, translit=Azat hayrenik’ dashink’) is a political alliance between five political party, political parties in Armenia. History The alliance was founded in May 2021 and subsequently announced its intention to participate in the 2021 Armenian parliamentary elections. Mikael Hayrapetyan was nominated to lead the alliance, while Andrias Ghukasyan, Andreas Ghukasyan was the bloc's candidate for prime minister. Following the election, the alliance won just 0.32% of the popular vote, failing to gain any representation in the National Assembly (Armenia), National Assembly. The alliance had disputed the results of the election and claimed that the election was non-democratic. The alliance currently acts as an extra-parliamentary force. Andrias Ghukasyan
Andrias Marati Ghukasyan ( hy, Անդրիաս Մարատի Ղուկասյան) is an Armenian political analyst. Ghukasyan was one of seven candidates in the 2013 presidential election. Early life In 1987, he finished secondary school at N83. In the same year he entered the Yerevan State University Department of Economics. From 1988 to 1989, he served in the Soviet Army. In 1994, he graduated from Yerevan State University having an "Economic Cybernetics" specialty and received a degree in economics-mathematics. In 2005, he graduated from the St. Petersburg International Economic Relations, Economics and Law Institute, earning his bachelor's degree in Jurisprudence. 2021 Armenian Parliamentary Election
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 20 June 2021. The elections had initially been scheduled for 9 December 2023, but were called earlier due to a political crisis following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War and an alleged attempted coup in February 2021. Nikol Pashinyan, who had served as Prime Minister since 2018, resigned in April 2021 and subsequently the seventh National Assembly was dissolved on 10 May. Pashinyan continued to serve as acting prime minister until the elections were held. Following the election, Pashinyan's Civil Contract party received 54% of the vote and won 71 seats, a majority in the 107-seat parliament. The opposition Armenia Alliance, finished second with 29 seats, while the I Have Honor Alliance won 7 seats. No other party or alliance surpassed the electoral threshold required to win a seat.
