The Free Catholic Church in Germany (german: Freikatholische Kirche in Deutschland) is a Christian religious community in Germany which was legally registered in 1987. Johannes Peter Meyer-Mendez brought the Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church (ICAB) to Germany in 1949. It was registered as the Free Catholic Church ("Freikatholische Kirche"). After Meyer-Mendez died, became the leader, then Hilarios Karl-Heinz Ungerer became the leader and moved from Cologne to Munich. The Worldwide Communion of Catholic Apostolic Churches (WCCAC; es, Comunión de Iglesias Católicas Apostólicas Mundiales, CICAM) was a communion of independent Catholic churches connected to the Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church (ICAB). Johannes Peter Meyer-Mendez (March 6, 1909 in Randerath, Germany – February 24, 1976 in Cologne) was the founder and first archbishop of the Free Catholic Church in Germany. He founded this church in 1949 as an extension of the Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church.
