Fredrik Friis
Hans Fredrik Friis-Olsen, born 2 April 1923 in Sandefjord, Norway, died 15 March 2008, was one of Norway's first talent scouts, music managers and producers. He was also a noted composer, lyricist and singer, producing more than 600 songs of his own. Friis was one of the early pioneers in the Norwegian music business, even much underappreciated, discovering artists who would not only plague the national charts, but also seek International notoriety, at a time where Norway did not have any infrastructure, nor much plans for its music exportation. Most famous is Anita Hegerland. But Nationally, Teddy Nelson, Eivind Løberg, Gluntan and Ivar Simastuen. He made his recording debut in 1951. Friis' musical career started with a local performance at home in Sandefjord when he was five years old. He bought a saxophone and started his first orchestra, Daisy Bell, in 1940. Sandefjord
Sandefjord () is a city and the most populous municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The municipality of Sandefjord was established on 1 January 1838. The municipality of Sandar was merged into Sandefjord on 1 January 1969. On 1 January 2017, rural municipalities of Andebu and Stokke were merged into Sandefjord as part of a nationwide municipal reform. This merger was the first one to take place during the reform. Chat Noir
Chat Noir ( French for 'black cat') is a cabaret and revue theatre in Oslo, Norway. It was established in 1912 by Bokken Lasson. The current director is Tom Sterri. Establishment Chat Noir was established as a cabaret in 1912 by singer Bokken Lasson and her later husband, writer Vilhelm Dybwad, modelled after the Paris cabaret Le Chat Noir from the 19th century. During a visit to Paris in the early 1890s Bokken Lasson had found the inspiration of her life. She experienced the literary cabarets of the time, and performers such as Yvette Guilbert. The next years she toured European cities, wearing a self-composed costume, singing gypsy songs and playing lute, performing on the street, at restaurants, cabarets and occasionally in musical comedies. "It's Not That Easy" is the first single taken from British R&B singer Lemar's third album '' The Truth About Love''. Before the single's release, "It's Not That Easy" made the top 3 of the UK radio airplay chart and the top 10 of the TV airplay chart. The week prior to the single's physical release, "It's Not That Easy" entered the top 75 at #41 on downloads alone. In its second week on the chart, once the physical CD and vinyl formats were in store, the single launched Lemar back into the top ten of the UK singles chart, after his previous single, " Don't Give It Up", peaked outside the top twenty. "It's Not That Easy" peaked at #7. TONO
TONO is a Norwegian corporation that administers copyrights for music in Norway. It is owned and governed by its members; composers, music publishers and text-writers. Through the managing agreement the originators give TONO an exclusive right to administer the members' performing rights in Norway. By 2006 the number of members reached about 14,000, through agreements of reciprocation with about 60 other corporations, organised under the umbrella-organisation CISAC. TONO ''de facto'' manages the whole world-repertoire. TONO was originally created in 1928 under the name of ''Norsk Komponistforenings Internasjonale Musikkbyrå''. Arnt Haugen
Arnt Haugen (January 3, 1928 – June 26, 1988) was a Norwegian accordionist and music journalist from Kongsberg, known from over 100 LP releases. Haugen was born in Jondalen in Buskerud county. After studying to be a journalist, he worked for the newspaper ''Fremtiden'' and the music journal ''Rytme'' from 1955 to 1962. Later he edited ''Trekkspill-Nytt'' (Accordion News). Musica (company)
Musica was a record label created in 1945 in order to publish German Telefunken records in Sweden and Norway, since the Telefunken label could not be used after World War II. The two countries had different catalog number blocks so the same number would not appear with different record content, and there were also some blocks set aside for Denmark and Finland. Both Norway and Sweden had local agents representing the German electronics company AEG-Telefunken before the war. Telefunken records were sold by Svensk AB Trådlös Telegrafi (SATT) in Sweden, and by Norsk Telefunken Radioaktieselskap (NTR) in Norway. After the war they were both unable to use the Telefunken label, and Telefunken were not able to produce any new records for a while. Aud Schønemann (13 November 1922 – 30 October 2006) was a Norwegian actress, regarded by many as the leading comedienne of her generation in Norway. She was born in Østre Aker, and was a daughter of actor August Schønemann and dancer Dagmar Kristensen.
