Frederick Robinson (1746–1792)
The Hon. Frederic ("Fritz") Robinson (11 October 1746 – 28 December 1792) was an English MP. Robinson was the second son of Thomas Robinson, 1st Baron Grantham. His older brother Thomas Robinson, 2nd Baron Grantham was Ambassador at Madrid 1771–8; Fritz accompanied him to Spain as his Secretary, though ill-health forced him to return to England in 1777. Frederick Philipse Robinson
Sir Frederick Philipse Robinson, GCB (September 1763 – 1 January 1852) was a soldier who fought for Britain during the American War of Independence. His father, Colonel Beverley Robinson, was a Virginian who moved to New York, marrying a wealthy heiress of the Philipse family with Dutch and Bohemian ancestry, Susanna Philipse. Frederick was born in the Hudson Highlands on the family estate in the Philipse Patent, today's Putnam County, New York, in September 1763. On the conclusion of peace he went to England. He subsequently took part in the War of 1812 with the United States and commanded a brigade at the unsuccessful Battle of Plattsburgh. In 1813 and 1814 he commanded a brigade under the Duke of Wellington in Spain. He was a provisional Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada in 1815. Afterwards he was governor of Tobago, and he became a general in 1841. In time he became the oldest soldier in the British service, and died at Brighton, England, at the age of 88. Ancestr ... Frederick Oliver Robinson, 2nd Marquess of Ripon, (29 January 1852 – 23 September 1923), styled Viscount Goderich between 1859 and 1871 and Earl de Grey between 1871 and 1909, was a British courtier and Liberal politician. Background Robinson was the only son and only surviving child of George Robinson, 1st Marquess of Ripon and grandson of Prime Minister F. J. Robinson, 1st Earl of Ripon. His mother was Henrietta Anne Theodosia Vyner, daughter of Henry Vyner. He was educated at Eton College. Political career Viscount Goderich was attached to the British commission sent, under his father's head, to Washington to settle the ''Alabama'' claims in 1871. Styled Earl de Grey after his father was elevated to a marquessate later in 1871, he entered Parliament for Ripon in 1874, a seat he held until 1880. Frederick Robinson (March 11, 1824 – April 11, 1893) was a British American immigrant, pharmacist, businessman, and politician. He served four terms as Mayor of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and served in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Robinson was born on March 11, 1824, in Church Stretton, in the West Midlands region of England. He was the youngest of nine children and his father died when he was only two years old. At age 15 he became an apprentice to a druggist and learned under him for five years. In 1845, he emigrated by boat to America. He landed in New York City after a forty day trip and was soon employed at a drug store in that city. The following year, he moved to Chicago and took a job with Sidney Sawyer. Sawyer wanted to establish a drug store in the city of Southport in the Wisconsin Territory (present day Kenosha, Wisconsin) and sent Robinson there to set up and run the store. Frederick Cayley Robinson (18 August 1862 – 4 January 1927) was an English artist who created paintings and applied art, including book illustrations and theatre set designs. Cayley Robinson continued to paint striking Pre-Raphaelite and Victorian subjects well into the twentieth century despite this approach becoming deeply unfashionable. His series of large-scale mural paintings for the Middlesex Hospital entitled ''Acts of Mercy'' commissioned around 1915 and completed in 1920 are some of his most impressive works, along with ''Pastoral'', 1923, (Tate Britain, London), which was bought by the Chantrey Bequest for the nation. However his many smaller paintings, particularly of interiors featuring sombre women as well as the theme of departure, are significant works of modern British art. Frederick Walter Robinson (nickname Doc Robbie) (1888–1971) was an Australian academic at the University of Queensland. He was the founder of the university's Fryer Library and one of the instigators of the John Oxley Library (now part of the State Library of Queensland). Early life Frederick Walter Robinson was born in Sydney, Australia in 1888, the son of Joseph Kitson Robinson and his wife Jenny Horne. He was educated at Sydney Boys' High School and the University of Sydney, where he took his B.A with Honours in 1909 and M.A. with Honours graduating in 1910. He won prizes and scholarships in English and classics including the Cooper travelling scholarship, which he used to study at the University of Jena, Germany. He was awarded his Ph.D., magna cum laude, for his thesis in German on Roman history. Frederick William Robinson (23 December 1830 – 6 December 1901) was an English novelist, magazine editor and drama critic. Life Robinson was born in Spitalfields in 1830, the second son of William Robinson of Acre Lane, Brixton, who owned much house property in London. His mother's surname was St John. After his education he acted for some time as his father's secretary, but he soon embarked upon a literary career, his first novel ''The House of Elmore'', begun before he was eighteen, being published in 1855. It met with success and was followed by upwards of fifty other works of fiction.
