Frederick L. Taft
Frederick Lovett Taft (December 1, 1870 - April 7, 1913) was an American lawyer and judge in Ohio. A member of the Taft family and a distant relative of President William Howard Taft, he was one of the leading political and legal men of the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio from 1896 until his death in April 1913. Life and career Frederick L. Taft was born to Newton A. and Laura Alba ( Humphrey) Taft in Braceville Township, Trumbull County, Ohio, Braceville, Ohio, on December 1, 1870. His father was a farmer, but Taft's family was a storied one. His paternal great-great-grandfather Lovett Taft and his paternal great-great-great-grandfather Robert Taft both fought in the American Revolutionary War, and he was related to President William Howard Taft. Braceville Township is one of the twenty-four townships of Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 2,887 people in the township. History Braceville Township was established in the 1810s, and named after Jonathan Brace, a land agent. It is the only Braceville Township statewide. Cleveland Athletic Club
The Cleveland Athletic Club (CAC) was a historic organization founded in 1908. Founding members included Mayor Charles A. Otis, Walter Baker, and Elbert Baker; banker William Parmalee Murray was its first president. In 1911 the organization commissioned a 15-story social club building at 1118 Euclid Avenue, a structure with facilities for its boxing tournaments, office space, a 12-room hotel, a dining room, an eight-lane bowling alley, a basketball court, and many other amenities. Olympic and Hollywood swimmer Johnny Weissmueller broke the record for the 15-yard backstroke in the club's penthouse pool in 1922. The architect was J. Phi Delta Phi () is an international legal honor society and the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States. Phi Delta Phi was originally a professional fraternity but became an honor society in 2012. The fraternity was founded at the University of Michigan in 1869 "to promote a higher standard of professional ethics". History Phi Delta Phi Fraternity was founded in the law department of the University of Michigan by John M. Howard of the class of 1871. Howard was a graduate of Monmouth College and member of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI). Sigma Alpha Epsilon (), commonly known as SAE, is a North American Greek-letter social college fraternity. It was founded at the University of Alabama on March 9, 1856. Of all existing national social fraternities today, Sigma Alpha Epsilon is the only one founded in the Antebellum South. Its national headquarters, the Levere Memorial Temple, was established on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in 1929.
