Friedrich Franz (1783–1860) was a photography pioneer and university teacher of Gregor Mendel. Friedrich Franz
Friedrich Franz, cs, Bedřich Franz, (1 December 1783 – 4 December 1860) was a professor of physics and applied mathematics at the Faculty of Philosophy of University of Olomouc, who greatly influenced his student Gregor Johann Mendel, later known as "''The Father of Genetics''". Biography Friedrich Franz graduated in 1831 the University of Prague as Doctor of Philosophy and Liberal Arts. Before he came in 1842 to Olomouc, he taught physics at a philosophical institute (type of grammar school) in Brno (Brünn). Franz was the first lecturer on the daguerreotype process in Moravia. He started experimenting already in 1839, the same year that Louis Daguerre developed this method of taking photographs. He also arranged exhibitions. Friedrich Franz I, Grand Duke Of Mecklenburg-Schwerin
Frederick Francis I (10 December 1756 – 1 February 1837) ruled over the German state of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, first as duke (1785–1815), and then as grand duke (1815–1837). Biography He was born in Schwerin, Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, to Duke Louis of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Princess Charlotte Sophie of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. Friedrich Franz succeeded his uncle Friedrich as duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1785. Following the Napoleonic Wars, Friedrich Franz was raised to the dignity of grand duke at the Congress of Vienna. Along with his cousin in Mecklenburg-Strelitz, he was known as one of the most reactionary German rulers. On his death in 1837 he was succeeded by his grandson, Grand Duke Paul Friedrich. Frederick Francis II (German: ''Friedrich Franz II;'' 28 February 1823 – 15 April 1883) was a Prussian officer and Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 7 March 1842 until 15 April 1883. Biography He was born in Schloss Ludwigslust, the eldest son of Hereditary Grand Duke Paul Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and his wife Princess Alexandrine of Prussia. He became heir apparent to the grand duchy following the death of his great-grandfather Frederick Francis I on 1 February 1837. Frederick Francis was privately educated until 1838. Frederick Francis III (german: Friedrich Franz Paul Nikolaus Ernst Heinrich; 19 March 1851 – 10 April 1897) was the penultimate Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Biography He was born in Schloss Ludwigslust as the son of Frederick Francis II, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and his first wife Princess Augusta Reuss of Köstritz. He succeeded his father as Grand Duke on 15 April 1883. From an early age Frederick Francis suffered from asthma and severe breathing difficulties. Frederick Henry Francis (1881 – 15 August 1949) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1919 to 1925, representing the Victorian seat of Henty as a Nationalist-aligned independent. He also served a term as mayor of the City of Malvern. Early life Francis was born at Port Melbourne and was a builder and then an estate agent before entering politics. He was a City of Malvern councillor for sixteen years, including a stint as mayor. He was also a justice of the peace. He had attempted to enlist in World War I but was rejected. Frederick Henhurst Francis (c. 1845–1895) was a Canadian merchant and political figure in Manitoba. He represented St. Francois Xavier in 1888 in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Liberal.
