Frederick's Dairies
Frederick's Dairies was an ice cream manufacturer that held the licence to make a number of branded ice cream products and variations. The company currently owns the licence to make a range of Del Monte and Cadbury's ices, including a number of Flake branded cones to compete with Wall's Cornetto, and a range of hand-held ice creams based on Cadbury's Dairy Milk range. Fredericks Dairies was acquired by R&R Ice Cream for £49 million in April 2013. It thus acquired control of Cadbury, Del Monte and Britvic ice cream brands. Flake (chocolate Bar)
Flake is a British brand of chocolate bar currently manufactured by British chocolate company Cadbury consisting of thinly folded milk chocolate. The bar has a unique crumbly texture, and softens but does not melt when heated. History The original Flake product was first developed in 1920 and was discovered by chance by an employee of Cadbury's at the Bournville factory who noticed thin streams of excess chocolate falling from moulds cooled into flaky ripples. By 1930, Cadbury's was selling half-length Flake specifically for prodding into vanilla soft serve ice cream in a cone (" 99 Flakes") which was served by ice cream vendors. Wall's is a British ice cream and frozen dessert brand in United Kingdom owned by Unilever and is part of the Heartbrand global frozen dessert brand. Wall's also owns the rights to the Mr. Whippy soft-serve ice cream mix. History Wall's was founded in 1786 by Richard Wall, when he opened a butcher's stall in St James's Market, London. In the 1900s the business was led by Richard's grandson Thomas Wall II. Skelmersdale is a town in Lancashire, England, on the River Tawd, west of Wigan, northeast of Liverpool and southwest of Preston. In 2006, it had a population of 38,813.
