Frederic Dahl Evans
Frederic Dahl Evans (June 29, 1866 – May 1, 1953) was a United States Army officer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He served in the Spanish–American War, Philippine–American War, and World War I. Biography Evans was born on June 29, 1866, in Ottawa, Illinois. His siblings included Lynden Evans. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1887 and was commissioned into the 22nd Infantry Regiment. Between 1887 and 1889, Evans did frontier duty. In addition to the 22nd, Evans served on the 20th, 18th, 17th, and the 4th Infantry Regiment, and until 1892, he commanded Seminole scouts. He served at Fort Bliss from 1893 to 1898. Ottawa is a city located at the confluence of the navigable Illinois River and Fox River in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. The Illinois River is a conduit for river barges and connects Lake Michigan at Chicago, to the Mississippi River, and North America's 25,000 mile river system. Lynden Evans
Lynden Evans (June 28, 1858 – May 6, 1926) was a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from Illinois. Born in LaSalle, Illinois, his siblings included Frederic Dahl Evans. Evans attended the public schools and was graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, in 1882. He taught in the schools of La Salle and Evanston, Illinois. He studied law. He was Admission to the bar in the United States, admitted to the bar in 1885 and commenced practice at Chicago, Illinois. Lecturer on corporation law in the John Marshall Law School in 1907 and 1908. Evans was elected as a Democratic Party (United States), Democrat to the 62nd United States Congress, Sixty-second Congress (March 4, 1911 – March 3, 1913). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1912 to the 63rd United States Congress, Sixty-third Congress. Fort Devens
Fort Devens is a United States Army Reserve military installation in the towns of Ayer and Shirley, in Middlesex County and Harvard in Worcester County in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. Due to extensive environmental contamination it was listed as a superfund site in 1989. Although closed in 1996, it was reopened the next day as the Devens Reserve Forces Training Area, located in Lancaster. The name reverted to Fort Devens in May 2007. The United States Army War College (USAWC) is a U.S. Army educational institution in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on the 500-acre (2 km2) campus of the historic Carlisle Barracks. Seminole
The Seminole are a Native American people who developed in Florida in the 18th century. Today, they live in Oklahoma and Florida, and comprise three federally recognized tribes: the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, as well as independent groups. The Seminole people emerged in a process of ethnogenesis from various Native American groups who settled in Spanish Florida beginning in the early 1700s, most significantly northern Muscogee Creeks from what is now Georgia and Alabama. The U.S. 4th Infantry Regiment ("Warriors") is an infantry regiment in the United States Army. It has served the United States for approximately two hundred years. History Origins It has been alleged that the regiment traces its lineage to the original Fourth United States Infantry, which was organized as the Infantry of the Fourth Sub-Legion on 4 September 1792, only four years after the adoption of the Constitution. The infantry of the Fourth Sub-Legion fought at Miami Rapids in 1794. In 1796, it was re-designated the Fourth Regiment of the Infantry. After ten years, due to a reduction in the army, the regiment was disbanded in 1802.
