Freddy Eugen
Freddy Eugen (4 February 1941 – 8 June 2018) was a Danish cyclist who was active between 1961 and 1969 on the road and track. On track he won two European medals in the madison event in 1967 and 1968. On the road he won 9 six-day races out of 95 starts, including the Six Days of Amsterdam (1967), as well as one stage of the Tour de Suisse The Tour de Suisse ( en, Tour of Switzerland) is an annual road cycling stage race. Madison (cycling)
The Madison is a relay race event in track cycling, named after the first Madison Square Garden in New York, and known as the "American race" in French (''course à l'américaine'') and as ''Americana'' in Spanish and in Italian. The race The Madison is a race where each team aims to complete more laps than any of the other teams. Riders in each team take turns during the race, handing over to another team member, resting, and then returning to the race. Teams are usually of two riders but occasionally of three. Only one rider of the team is racing at any time, and the replacement rider has to be touched before taking over. The touch can also be a push, often on the shorts, or one rider hurling the other into the race by a hand-sling. How long each rider stays in the race is for the members of each team to decide. Six Days Of Amsterdam
The Six Days of Amsterdam ( nl, Zesdaagse van Amsterdam) is a six-day track cycling race held at the Amsterdam Velodrome in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The recordholder for the Six Days of Amsterdam is the Dutch cyclist Danny Stam with four victories. The most recent edition took place in 2016 and was won by Belgians Kenny De Ketele and Moreno De Pauw, their third Six Day victory as a duo. History The first edition was between 18 and 24 November 1932, in the old building of the Amsterdam RAI on the Ferdinand Bolstraat on a 166.6 metre track. This first edition was won by the Dutch couple Jan Pijnenburg and Piet van Kempen. The year afterwards the Dutch couple Jan Pijnenburg/ Cor Wals beat the French couple Marcel Guimbretiere/ Paul Broccado and the year later during the third edition it was the other way around and the French couple won. Tour De Suisse
The Tour de Suisse ( en, Tour of Switzerland) is an annual road cycling stage race. Raced over eight days, the event covers two weekends in June, and along with the Critérium du Dauphiné, it is considered a proving ground for the Tour de France, which is on the calendar approximately two weeks after the end of the Tour de Suisse. Since 2011 the event is part of the UCI World Tour, cycling's highest level of professional races. History The race was first held in 1933 and has evolved in timing, duration and sponsorship. Like the Tour de France and the Dauphiné, the Tour de Suisse has several stages with significant mountain climbs in the Swiss Alps and at least one individual time trial.
