Fred Durhal III
Fred Durhal III (born April 1, 1984) is an American politician who currently serves as a member of the Detroit City Council. Durhal served as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives for the 5th District from 2015 to 2019. Durhal succeeded his father, Fred Durhal, Jr., in the House. Early life and Career Durhal was born in Detroit to his parents Fred and Martha Durhal. He is the second eldest of six children. Durhal attended Detroit Public Schools, including Guyton Elementary, Spain Middle School, and graduating from Detroit School of Arts. He later attended Eastern Michigan University, where he studied political science and music education. Prior to his election, he served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Northwest Detroit as the director of a literacy program for young children. The Detroit City Council is the legislative body of Detroit, Michigan, United States. The full-time council is required to meet every business day for at least 10 months of the year, with at least eight of these meetings occurring at a location besides city hall. Samir Singh (born March 4, 1971) is a Democratic politician from Michigan who serves in the Michigan Senate. He formerly served as a member of the East Lansing East Lansing is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. Thomas L. Leonard III (born April 20, 1981) is an American attorney and politician. He is a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives who served as Speaker of the House from 2017 to 2019.
