Fred Cook (American Football)
Fred Harrison Cook III (born April 15, 1952) is a former American football player. He played defensive end for the History of the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Colts from 1974 through 1980. High School and college Cook played high school football for Our Lady of Victory in Mississippi, and to date is the only player from that school to make it to the pro level. Cook played college football for Southern Mississippi. Upon entering the university, Cook was one of the first African-Americans to play for the football program. After playing well on the freshman team, Cook was promoted to the varsity football team. He was a starter as a sophomore, ending the season with 68 tackles and 18 quarterback sacks, both school records. Graduation took apart the front line, as Cook was the lone returning starter for the 1972 season. Frederick George Cook (4 December 1922 – 17 December 1984) was an Australian rules football player for Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League and also served in the RAAF. Cook was originally from Croydon and played 81 games between 1944 and 1949, including the 1944 VFL Grand Final, which Richmond lost to Fitzroy. Fred Cook (Australian Footballer, Born 1947)
Frederick William Cook (16 November 1947 – 1 February 2022) was an Australian rules footballer. He played 33 games with Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1967 until 1969 but it was in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) with Yarraville and Port Melbourne that he made his name. In his brief career with Footscray he played in defence and only kicked two goals; at Yarraville, he won the J. J. Liston Trophy playing as a ruckman and defender; then with Port Melbourne, he became one of the Association's premier forwards, leading the VFA goalkicking in five separate seasons and kicking an all-time VFA career record of 1336 goals from his 300 games. Career Cook grew up in Yarraville in Melbourne's inner western suburbs, and supported Footscray in the VFL. Frederick William Cook (20 January 1902 in Aberdare – 1966) was a Welsh international footballer who played in the Football League as an outside-left for Aberdare Athletic, Newport County and Portsmouth, for whom he appeared in the 1929 FA Cup Final. He was part of the Wales national football team between 1925 and 1931, playing eight matches. Frederick Joseph "Bun" Cook (September 18, 1903 – March 19, 1988) was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and coach. He was an Allan Cup champion with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in 1924 before embarking on a 13-year professional career. He played for the Saskatoon Crescents in the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) and the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL). Cook was a member of two Stanley Cup championship teams with the Rangers, in 1928 and 1933, playing on the "Bread Line" with his brother Bill and Frank Boucher. Cook turned to coaching in 1937 and spent 19 years in the American Hockey League (AHL), with the Providence Reds for six seasons and the remainder with the Cleveland Barons. His 636 wins as a coach is the second most in AHL history and he led his teams to the playoffs in all but one season.
