Fred Campbell (Australian Footballer)
Fred Campbell (born 14 December 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Sydney and St Kilda in the AFL in 1999 and 2000. Originally from the Pioneer Football Club in Alice Springs, Campbell was drafted by the Swans with the 40th selection in the 1997 AFL draft, three selections before the Swans selected future dual Brownlow Medalist, dual premiership player, four-time All-Australian, member of the Indigenous Team of the Century and 350 game player Adam Goodes. After five games for Sydney in 1999 he left the club to return home to Alice Springs. Frederick Alexander Campbell (17 January 1911 – 11 September 1995) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Campbell was born in Brisbane, Queensland, the son of Matthew Hale Campbell and his wife Annie Jessie (née Jullyan). He was educated in Brisbane and worked in the family poultry business after he left school. He later was an insurance officer specializing in fire and general insurance. He played in the National Basketball League for the Detroit Gems The Detroit Gems were an American professional basketball team based in Detroit, Michigan. Frederick Campbell (October 18, 1830 – January 13, 1913) was an American politician who was a pioneer of the Idaho Territory. Biography Campbell was born on October 18, 1830, in Ravenna, Ohio, and made his way West to the Boise Basin of Idaho in 1862. He took up mining in Placerville, where he would live until 1901. He also took part in skirmishes with the local Native American population. He was elected four times as a Republican to represent Boise County in the Idaho Territorial House of Representatives, in 1872, 1874, 1880, and 1882. He lost an election for Boise County Assessor in 1878, and served as assistant clerk for the Idaho Territorial Council in the 1884–1885 session. Campbell was elected to the territorial council in 1888 to represent Ada and Boise Counties. Lord Frederick Campbell (20 June 1729 – 8 June 1816) was a Scottish nobleman and politician. He was lord clerk register of Scotland, 1768–1816; Member of parliament, Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow Burghs (UK Parliament constituency), Glasgow Burghs (1761–1780) and for Argyllshire (UK Parliament constituency), Argyllshire (1780–1799). Frederick Archibald Vaughan Campbell, 3rd Earl Cawdor, (13 February 1847 – 8 February 1911), styled Viscount Emlyn from 1860 to 1898, was a British Conservative politician. He served briefly as First Lord of the Admiralty between March and December 1905. Background and education Cawdor was the eldest son of John Campbell, 2nd Earl Cawdor, and his wife Sarah Mary, daughter of General the Hon. Henry Cavendish. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. He was brought up on the family estates in south Wales and his coming of age in 1868 was a major event in the town of Llandeilo. Frederick Campbell (1780–1866) was a general in the British army who served in the Napoleonic Wars and subsequently. At the time of his death he was colonel commandant of the 6th Battalion, Royal Artillery. Campbell's father Archibald (died 1790) was Lieutenant Governor of Fort George. His brothers included Admiral Sir Patrick Campbell and Lieut-General Sir Colin Campbell. Frederick Campbell entered the Royal Artillery in 1797. He served in the campaign in Egypt under Sir Ralph Abercromby. He was wounded at the debarkation of the troops at Abukir on 21 March 1801. From 1810–1828 he was garrison quartermaster at Woolwich. He commanded the Royal Artillery in Jamaica from 1833–37, and in Canada from 1838–47. In 1852 he was appointed colonel commandant. He died at Woolwich on 4 April 1866. Frederick George Campbell (1853–1929) was an American sheep breeder and rancher from the Green Mountains of Vermont. He is chiefly known as one of six founders of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity in 1873. Early life Frederick George Campbell, born and bred in the Green Mountains, much like co-Founder Clay, was from the small town of Westminster West, Vermont. Frederick William Campbell (15 June 1867 – 19 June 1915) was a Canadian Army, Canadian Army Officer, and recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to United Kingdom, British and Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth forces. Biography Campbell was born on 15 June 1867 to Ephraim B. and Esther A. Hunt Campbell of Mount Forest, Ontario. He was married, to Margaret Annie. As a lieutenant in the 1st Canadian Battalion (Ontario Regiment), CEF, 1st (Western Ontario) Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force during the World War I, First World War, he was awarded the VC for actions performed on 15 June 1915 (his 48th birthday) at Givenchy, France. As he was retreating, his right thigh bone was shattered. The wound turned septic, and Campbell died in hospital in Boulogne four days later.
