François Choquette
François Choquette (born January 3, 1974) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2011 election and re-elected in 2015. He served in the 41st and 42nd Canadian Parliaments before losing his seat in 2019. He represented the electoral district of Drummond as a member of the New Democratic Party. Prior to being elected, Choquette was a teacher. Choquette has a bachelor's degree in secondary education in French and history and a master's degree in literature. Choquette also ran unsuccessfully in the 2006 federal election, and attempted a non-consecutive comeback in the 2021 election, in Drummond. After the 2015 election, NDP leader Tom Mulcair appointed Choquette to be the NDP's critic for Official Languages in the 42nd Canadian Parliament. Drummond is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1968. It was created in 1966 from Drummond—Arthabaska, Nicolet—Yamaska and Richmond—Wolfe. Geography The riding, located along the Saint-François River in the Quebec region of Centre-du-Québec, consists of the RCM of Drummond. The largest city is Drummondville. Pauline Picard (April 27, 1947 – June 29, 2009) was a Quebec politician. She was the Bloc Québécois Member of Parliament for the riding of Drummond from 1993 to 2008. Born in Saint-Gabriel-de-Kamouraska, she was an administrative assistant, employment consultant, and financial advisor before she was first elected in 1993. She was re-elected in 1997, 2000 and 2004.
