François-Auguste Ravier
François-Auguste Ravier (4 May 1814 – 26 June 1895) was a French landscape painter. Biography He was born in Lyon. His parents encouraged him to prepare for a legal career, so he went to Paris. While studying law, from 1833 to 1839, he also devoted himself to painting; enrolling at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he studied with Théodore Caruelle d'Aligny. François Guiguet
François Joseph Guiguet (8 January 1860 – 3 September 1937) was a French painter. Biography He was born in Corbelin. His father was a joiner and he was the fifth of twelve children. Although he drew from an early age, it was intended that he would follow his father's trade. In 1876, however, the family doctor saw some his work and was impressed. He advised them to seek out the opinion of François-Auguste Ravier, a painter and former colleague of Camille Corot, who lived in the nearby village of Morestel. Ravier was also impressed and spent three years teaching Guiguet some of the basics of art to prepare him for entry into the École nationale des beaux-arts de Lyon. In 1879, on Ravier's recommendation, he was enrolled in the class of Michel Dumas, a former student of Ingres, who schooled him in the Classical tradition. Joconde is the central database created in 1975 and now available online, maintained by the French Ministry of Culture, for objects in the collections of the main French public and private museums listed as ''Musées de France'', according to article L. 441-1 of the ''Code du patrimoine'' amounting to more than 1,200 institutions. "La Joconde" is the French name of the ''Mona Lisa'', which like about half of the collections of the Louvre, is included in the database, as one of 295 items by, after, or connected with Leonardo da Vinci; of these, only 42 works are by Leonardo da Vinci, including 6 paintings. Impressionism
Impressionism was a 19th-century art movement characterized by relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes, open Composition (visual arts), composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, unusual visual angles, and inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience. Crémieu
Crémieu () is a commune in the Isère department in southeastern France. This small medieval village of 3,375 inhabitants (2019) hosts a celebration called "Les Médiévales" every year in September, which reconstitutes the lifestyle of the Middle Ages. The seal of the région includes a dolphin. The inhabitants of this village are also called "les dauphinois" from the noun "dauphin" in French. He is a pivotal figure in landscape painting and his vast output simultaneously referenced the Neo-Classical tradition and anticipated the plein-air innovations of Impressionism.
