Franz-Josef Berners (born March 27, 1945) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and former member of the German Bundestag The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons .... Life Berners joined the CDU in 1971 and became a member of Leverkusen city council in 1975. Following the death of Helga Wex, he moved to the German Bundestag in 1986, where he remained until the end of the tenth term in 1987. During this period he was a member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and a deputy member of the Committee on Research and Technology. The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Bundestag was established by Title III of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (, ) in 1949 as one of the legislative bodies of Germany and thus it is the historical successor to the earlier Reichstag.
