Frants Nielsen
Frants Nielsen (22 January 1874 – 6 June 1961) was a Denmark, Danish Shooting sports, sports shooter who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He was born in Alum, Purhus Municipality, and died in Randers. Purhus Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Purhus municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Aarhus County on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 169 km2, and had a total population of 8,547 (2005). Its last mayor was Berner Nielsen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Fårup. Purhus municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). The men's 300 m rifle three positions was a shooting sports event held as part of the shooting at the 1912 Summer Olympics programme. The men's ''individual competition with revolver and pistol, distance 50 metres'' (later standardized by the IOC to the ''men's 50 metre pistol'') was a shooting sports event held as part of the shooting at the 1912 Summer Olympics programme. It was the fourth appearance of the event, which was the only one to have been featured at every edition of the Games to that point. The competition was held on Monday, 1 July 1912.
