František Konvička
František Konvička (born August 11, 1938 in Okříšky, Czechoslovakia) is a former Czech professional basketball player and coach. At 6'3 " tall (1.92 m), he played at the small forward position. Playing career Club career Konvička spent his club career playing with Spartak Brno. He reached two EuroLeague Finals, in 1964, and 1968, averaging 26.6 points per game. National team career Konvička represented the senior Czechoslovakian national basketball team for a decade, in international competitions. He won two EuroBasket silver medals, in 1959 and 1967, as well as a bronze medal in 1969. Coaching career After his playing career, Konvička worked as a basketball coach. Okříšky
Okříšky () is a market town in Třebíč District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,000 inhabitants. Etymology According to one theory, the name is derived from the personal name Okřeša or Oskora. According to the second theory, the name is derived from ''okřísit'' (i.e. 'resurrect') and may have been created after the village disappeared and was then restored. The FIBA Europe All-Star Game was the all-star basketball exhibition game, which was also known as the "FIBA Europe Festival". The "FIBA Europe Festival All-Star Game" was held from 1964 to 1995. Basketball at the 1960 Summer Olympics was the fifth appearance of the sport of Basketball at the Summer Olympics, basketball as an official Olympic medal event. 16 nations were admitted into the Olympic tournament, with many others being eliminated in a 1960 Pre-Olympic Basketball Tournament, pre-Olympic tournament held earlier in the year from 13 to 20 August 1960 at the PalaDozza, Land Rover Arena at Bologna. 64 games of basketball were played in the Olympic tournament that was held at the Palazzetto dello Sport and PalaLottomatica, both in Rome. The 16 teams were split up into four groups for the preliminary round. Each team played every other team in its group once. The EuroLeague is a European men's professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognised as the top-tier and the most prestigious men's basketball league in Europe.
