Franklin Essed Stadion
Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion, formerly known as the Flora Stadion and commonly called the Frank Essed Stadion, is a multi-purpose stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname. It is home to S.V. Leo Victor, Leo Victor S.V. Cosmos, Cosmos, Royal '95, and Super Red Eagles. It is also the home stadium of Sportvereniging Nationaal Leger, SNL, the football club of the Military of Suriname, national military of Suriname. The stadium was named after Surinamese politician and forestry scientist Frank Essed. Location The Frank Essed Stadium is located in Southwestern part of Paramaribo, in the Flora neighborhood. It is next door to the National Indoor Stadium on the west end of the Jaggernath Lachmonstraat. Concerts The Essed Stadium has been used as a location for several concerts. Paramaribo (; ; nicknamed Par'bo) is the capital and largest city of Suriname, located on the banks of the Suriname River in the Paramaribo District. Kassav'
Kassav' is a French Caribbean band formed in Guadeloupe in 1979. The core members of the band are Jacob Desvarieux, Jocelyne Béroard, Jean-Philippe Marthély, Patrick St. Eloi, Jean-Claude Naimro, Claude Vamur, and Georges Décimus (who left to form Volt Face and returned). Kassav' have issued over 20 albums, with a further 12 solo albums by band members. The music of Kassav' is an extension of cadence-lypso or compas bands, such as Grammacks, Exile One, Les Aiglons and Experience 7 of the 1970s. Atif Aslam is a Pakistani playback singer, songwriter, composer, and actor. He has recorded many songs in both Pakistan and India, and is known for his vocal belting technique. Aslam predominantly sings in Urdu, but has also sung in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, and Pashto. Frank Essed
Franklin Edgar "Frank" Essed (21 April 1919 – 22 December 1988) was a Surinamese forest scientist and politician. He served as Minister of Development from 1958 until 1963, and 1969 until 1973. Essed initiated Operation Grasshopper which build airstrips in the interior to map natural resources. Biography Essed was born on 21 April 1919 in Paramaribo. He went to high school, and started to work as a geodist. In 1949, he received the opportunity to study at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He graduated in forestry in 1955, and received his doctorate in 1957. In 1957, Essed returned to Suriname, and started to work for , the forestry agency of Suriname. He also became a member of the National Party of Suriname (NPS), and in 1958, he was elected to the Estates of Suriname with the most votes for a single candidate.
