Frank Goudie
Frank "Big Boy" Goudie (September 13, 1899 – January 9, 1964) was an American jazz trumpeter, alto and tenor saxophonist and clarinetist. Goudie was born in Youngsville, Louisiana, United States, 150 miles west of New Orleans in the area of the state known as Cajun country, where he lived until age of eight. (It is likely he learned to speak French while growing up there, which would be useful later in his life.) His family then moved to New Orleans, where he began playing cornet, possibly studying with Bunk Johnson. He became proficient enough to find work with local bands such as Papa Celestin's Original Tuxedo Band and the Magnolia Band - two top bands in New Orleans at that time. He began studying clarinet and tenor saxophone, which would eventually become his primary instruments. ''The Encyclopedia of Popular Music'' is an encyclopedia created in 1989 by Colin Larkin. Louis Armstrong
Louis Daniel Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971), nicknamed "Satchmo", "Satch", and "Pops", was an American trumpeter and vocalist. He was among the most influential figures in jazz. His career spanned five decades and several eras in the history of jazz. Armstrong was born and raised in New Orleans. Coming to prominence in the 1920s as an inventive trumpet and cornet player, Armstrong was a foundational influence in jazz, shifting the focus of the music from collective improvisation to solo performance. Around 1922, he followed his mentor, Joe "King" Oliver, to Chicago to play in the . Louis Mitchell
Louis A. Mitchell (December 17, 1885 – September 12, 1957) was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. Mitchell began performing in vaudeville revues and minstrel shows from around the turn of the century, playing drums and bandoline. After moving to New York City in 1912, he founded his own group, the Southern Symphonists' Quartet. Mitchell sang and drummed for James Reese Europe in 1918, and the following year founded a new group, which he called Louis Mitchell's Jazz Kings. Toward the end of the decade, Mitchell began touring Europe as well as the United States, concentrating on the United Kingdom and France. He did solo percussion shows in addition to ensemble programs, and his drum solos were greeted harshly by French audiences. Benny Peyton
Benton E. "Benny" Peyton (c. 1890 – January 24, 1965) was an American jazz drummer. Peyton went with Will Marion Cook's Southern Syncopated Orchestra to Europe in 1919 and remained there, forming his own group in London, the Jazz Kings, out of members of Cook's orchestra. The group recorded two sides for Columbia Records in 1920 which were never issued; they also held a residence at the Hammersmith Palais in 1921. Peyton led his own band across Europe well into the 1930s, with June Cole, Big Boy Goudie and Tommy Ladnier among his sidemen. He toured the USSR with Sidney Bechet and Frank Withers ''(né'' Frank Douglas Withers; 1880–1952), and in 1935 played with Joe Turner and Adelaide Hall in Zurich.
