Frank George Gibbons
Flight Lieutenant Frank George Gibbons (13 June 1899 – 21 May 1932) was a British First World War flying ace credited with fourteen aerial victories. He served in the Royal Air Force post-war, until killed in a flying accident during an air race. World War I service Gibbons joined the Royal Flying Corps as an air mechanic (cadet) in June 1917, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in November. After completing his flying training Gibbons was posted to No. 22 Squadron RFC to fly the Bristol F.2b two-seater fighter. He was promoted to lieutenant in April 1918, and gained his first aerial victory on 31 May. This was the first in a string of victories that made him an ace by 5 June, gaining the required five victories in less than a week. He gained another victory at the end of June, and single victories in July and August, before scoring another string of six between 2 and 27 September. Peterborough
Peterborough () is a cathedral city in Cambridgeshire, east of England. It is the largest part of the City of Peterborough unitary authority district (which covers a larger area than Peterborough itself). It was part of Northamptonshire until 1974, when county boundary change meant the city became part of Cambridgeshire instead. Lieutenant Valentine St. Barbe Collins (2 January 1894 – 2 September 1918) was a World War I British flying ace credited with ten aerial victories who served with the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Air Force. Background Valentine St. Barbe Collins, son of Colonel Charles Bury Collins, CMG DSO ( RE), and his wife Etheldred St. Barbe Collins, was born on 2 January 1894 in Bermuda. He studied at Wellington College, built as a national monument to the Duke of Wellington, in Crowthorne, Berkshire, England. In June 1916, his father, then a lieutenant colonel, was awarded the Distinguished Service Order; however, he died the following year, on 1 March 1917, at or near Dar es Salaam, East Africa. Estaires
Estaires (; vls, Stegers) is a commune in the Nord department of the Hauts-de-France region in northern France. The town gives its name to a type of chicken bred in the area: the Estaires chicken. Geography Estaires is located in French Flanders, in the Lys valley at an altitude of 16 m. The Meteren Becque flows into the Lys at this point.
