Frank-N-Dank
Frank n Dank (real names Frank Bush and Derrick Harvey) are an American hip hop group from Detroit, Michigan. They also go by the names Frank Nitt (previously known as Frank Nitty, which is a reference to the 1930s crime boss Frank Nitti) and Dankery Harv, and are best known for their many collaborations with the late J Dilla. Known for their party-driven, tongue-in-cheek raps, the duo first came to public attention as guests on producer J Dilla's album, ''Welcome 2 Detroit'' in 2001. Prior to this, they had been performing in their hometown, Detroit, since the mid-1990s and had released the 12"s "Everybody Get Up!" and "Me and My Man" between "Love (A Thing of the Past)", both produced by J Dilla. The group signed a recording deal with MCA Records, but their 2003 album, ''48 Hours'', was at first rejected by the label, reworked with new production and resubmitted by the group, and finally shelved by the label altogether. Bootlegs of the reworked version eventually surfaced o ...

Pause (Jay Dee Song)
"Pause" is a single by J Dilla, Jay Dee that was chosen to lead his 2001 album, ''Welcome 2 Detroit''. Besides a grunt and an ad-lib, ("Bounce"), Jay Dee doesn't perform on the song himself, but instead features his friends Frank-N-Dank, who brace the horn-laced track with suitably over-the-top braggadocio. Much of Dank's opening first is later featured in scratches on Dilla's Ruff Draft Extended play, EP song "Let's Take It Back". The appropriately titled "Featuring Phat Kat" sees his one time fellow 1st Down member Phat Kat on the mic, while Jay Dee provides a subdued, but gritty canvas for him to let loose. The song is also notable for featuring one of Jay Dee's DJ Premier-esque scratch montages. Track listing

Jaylib
''Champion Sound'' is the only studio album by the duo Jaylib ( hip hop musicians J Dilla and Madlib). Half of the songs are produced by Madlib and feature J Dilla on vocals, and the other half are produced by J Dilla and feature Madlib on vocals. History Jaylib began in 2000 when DJ J Rocc of the Beat Junkies gave a CD of unused instrumental tracks by J Dilla to Madlib. Madlib recorded vocals over these beats and labelled them "Jaylib", without the intention of actually releasing them. Stones Throw Records placed one of these recordings as the B-side to a promo 12" Madlib single, under the name Jaylib, which was eventually heard by Dilla. The pair recorded ''Champion Sound'' in separate cities, Madlib in Oxnard, California, and Dilla in Detroit, Michigan by sending recordings back and forth. The two met only once before or during this time, while Madlib was recording in Detroit for J Dilla's album '' The Diary'' on MCA Records; a record that was not released until 2016. The ...
