Frangiskos Sourpis
Frangiskos Sourpis ( el, Φραγκίσκος Σούρπης; born 4 March 1943) is a former Greek footballer, centre-back for Panathinaikos from 1962 until 1973. Career Born in Kifisia, Sourpis was talented at the pole vault and volleyball, but chose to play football with Panathinaikos F.C. He partnered Takis Papoulidis in the centre of defence in the 4-3-3 formation that coach Stjepan Bobek used at Panathinaikos. He played a total of 11 seasons for Panathinaikos, winning the Greek Alpha Ethniki six times, two Greek Football Cups, and helped the club reach the 1971 European Cup Final. 1971 European Cup Final
The 1971 European Cup Final was a football match between Ajax of the Netherlands and Panathinaikos of Greece on 2 June 1971 at Wembley Stadium. It was the final match of the 1970–71 season of Europe's premier cup competition, the European Cup. Ajax were appearing in their second final, having lost the 1969 final 4–1 to Italian team A.C. Milan. Panathinaikos were appearing in their first final. Both teams progressed through four rounds to reach the final. Ajax comfortably won all of their ties by two goals, except for their 5–1 aggregate victory against Swiss team Basel in the second round. Panathinaikos matches were close affairs, with the exception of their 7–1 aggregate victory against Jeunesse Esch of Luxembourg in the first round. The Super League Greece 1 ( el, Ελληνική Σούπερ Λιγκ 1), or Super League 1, is the highest professional association football league in Greece. Stjepan Bobek (; 3 December 1923 – 22 August 2010) was a Croatian and Yugoslav professional football striker and later football manager. Usually a forward or attacking midfielder, Bobek was renowned for his technique, vision and goalscoring ability and is commonly regarded as one of Yugoslavia's greatest players. He is remembered for his time at the Serbian side Partizan, where he moved to following the end of World War II. He played for Partizan between 1945 and 1959 helping them win two Yugoslav First League titles and four Yugoslav Cups, and was named the club's greatest player in history in 1995.
