Franco Volpi (actor)
Franco Volpi (11 July 1921 – 1 January 1997) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Milan, Volpi formed at the Accademia dei Filodrammatici and debuted on stage in 1938, aged 17, in the company held by Renzo Ricci and Laura Adani. He often worked with Ernesto Calindri, on stage, on television and in a popular series of commercials. He is regarded as one of the early stars of Italian television miniseries (the so-called "sceneggiati"). Volpi died of a tumour in Rome, on 1 January 1977, at the age of 75. Accademia Dei Filodrammatici
The Accademia dei Filodrammatici (literally "Academy of Drama Lovers"), is a drama school located in Milan, Italy and founded in 1796. It is the oldest theatre school in Italy. The theatre was designed by neoclassic architect Luigi Canonica, based on Giuseppe Piermarini’s drawings. The original structure was replaced in 1904 with an Art Nouveau building by architects Laveni and Avati. Of that structure, only the façade was preserved, with stucco and iron decorations and floral weaving, typical of the time. The interior was completely rebuilt by the architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni in the 1960s, due to its partial destruction during Second World War bombings. Renzo Ricci
Renzo Ricci (27 September 1899 – 20 October 1978) was an Italian stage and film actor. He was also a noted theatre director. Ricci played the title role in Roberto Rossellini's 1961 film ''Garibaldi''.Bondanella, Peter. ''The Films of Roberto Rossellini''. Cambridge University Press, 1993. p.165. Life and career Born in Florence, Ricci started acting in a local dramatic society while still being a student of the Istituto tecnico, and made his professional debut in 1915, with the stage company held by Emma Gramatica. Mainly active on stage, he was a member of several companies, notably the Giorgio Strehler's company at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. In 1957 he won the San Genesio Prize for his performance in Eugene O'Neill's '' Long Day's Journey Into Night''. He was married with actress Margherita Bagni with whom he had a daughter, Eleonora "Nora", also an actress. After his first wife's death he married his lover, another stage actress, Eva Magni.
