Francisco Maria Campos y Angeles (born 16 June 1860 in Actopan, Hidalgo – 29 June 1945) was a Mexicans, Mexican clergyman and bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chilpancingo-Chilapa, as well as for Roman Catholic Diocese of Tabasco. He became ordained in 1882. He was appointed bishop in 1897. He died on 29 June 1945, at the age of 85. Actopan, Hidalgo
''Actopan'' (Otomi: Ma’yüts’i) is a city and one of the 84 municipalities of Hidalgo, in central-eastern Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 280.1 km. It is crossed by the federal road that runs from Mexico City to Nuevo Laredo and it is located 30 km northwest of Pachuca, the capital city of the state of Hidalgo. Actopan is known as the city of the convent and the land of the barbecue. Its name derives from the word “Atoctli” meaning “firm, fertile, and humid land” and the word “pan” meaning “on” or “over” in Nahuatl. Thus, the name Actopan comes to mean “on the firm, humid, and fertile land”. Actopan’s original name in Otomi is “Ma'yüts'i” which translates to “my little pathway”. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Chilpancingo–Chilapa ( la, Dioecesis Chilpancingensis–Chilapensis) is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Acapulco. History The former Diocese of Chilapa in southern Mexico comprised the State of Guerrero. It was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Mexico, and existed under that name from 1863 to 1989. The early bishops were Ambrosia Serrano, Ramon Ibarra, and Homobono Anaya. Father John Ssenyondo, a priest in Chilapa, also served under the dictatorship of Idi Amin in his native Uganda.
