Francisco Javier de la Torre was the 49th governor-general of the Philippines from 1764 to 1765. Governorship On January 30, 1764, prior to the death of Governor-General Manuel Rojo del Rio y Vieyra, Simón de Anda y Salazar assumed office as the acting governor. On March 16, 1764, Francisco Javier de la Torre arrived at Marinduque riding on a Spanish frigate ''Santa Rosa''. In March 1764, acting governor Anda formally handed over his command to de la Torra making the latter as the new governor-general. Simón de Anda y Salazar (28 October 1709 – 30 October 1776) was a Spanish Basque governor of the Philippines from July 1770 to 30 October 1776. Oidor at the Royal Audience of Manila and Lieutenant Governor De Anda y Salazar was an Oidor of the Royal Audience of Manila, who was appointed as Lieutenant Governor of the city by the Governor-General of the Philippines and the Audiencia itself during the British occupation of Manila. He departed Manila on the night of 5 October 1762, during the Battle of Manila (1762), and established a Spanish provisional colonial government and army in Bulacan. The acting governor of Manila, Archbishop Manuel Rojo, was captured by the British and surrendered the Philippines, but this act was rejected as illegal by Anda. José Antonio Raón Y Gutiérrez
José Antonio Raón y Gutiérrez (c. 1700 – 4 January 1773) was a Spanish general who served as Royal Governor of Panama, and the 50th Governor-General of the Philippines. He is known as an able administrator despite being perceived as corrupt. Early life and career There is not much known about the early career of Raón other than that he was from Calahorra and that he was born around 1700. However, there is documentary evidence which suggests that he was married to Josefa Mondragon. They had two children: José Raón, a lieutenant, and Josefa Delgado y Amate. In 1761, he was appointed as interim Royal Governor of Panama, the first appointment made by Charles III of Spain in the colonial administrative district. British Occupation Of Manila
The British occupation of Manila was an episode in colonial history of the Philippines when the Kingdom of Great Britain occupied the Spanish colonial capital of Manila and the nearby port of Cavite for twenty months from 1762 to 1764. The occupation was an extension of the larger Seven Years' War between Britain and France, which Spain had recently entered on the side of the French.
