Francis Howell School District
The Francis Howell School District has provided education in St. Charles County, Missouri since 1830. Through mergers, it became the Consolidated School District No. 2 of St. Charles County in 1913, and the Francis Howell Reorganized School District #3 in 1951. Population growth in the 1970s and 1980s, and continued into the 1990s. In the last five years student enrollment growth has shown a slight decline from year to year. While annual fluctuations in growth rates are likely, enrollment projections indicate that student population during the next five years will continue its slow and gradual decline. Enrollment is expected to level off at approximately 17,000 students. The District currently provides education to approximately 18,000 students preschool through twelfth grade, and an additional 8,000 students in its early childhood education programs. New Melle is a small country community in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. It is located approximately 38 miles west of St. Louis. The population was 475 at the 2010 census. Weldon Spring, Missouri
Weldon Spring is a city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,443 at the 2010 census. History Weldon Spring was platted in 1864. The community took its name from a spring of the same name near the original town site. A post office called Weldon Spring was established in 1875, and remained in operation until 1957. In 1941, the United States Army purchased 17,000 acres of land in the surrounding area. The Weldon Spring Ordnance Works built the largest explosives factory in the United States on the site. It was built to produce TNT and DNT for Allied forces during World War II. It closed on August 15, 1945, days after the end of the war. Most of the land was then sold. A proposal appeared in 1945 suggesting the placement of United Nations Headquarters in the area. Dardenne Prairie is a city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. The population was 11,494 at the 2010 census. Geography Dardenne Prairie is located southwest of O'Fallon on Missouri Route N, just east of I-64. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. History Dardenne Prairie was originally a prairie region which began in the area near St. Peters and extended north of Dardenne Creek, almost to Peruque Creek. The area was named after the stream. Francis Howell High School is a four-year public high school located in St. Charles, Missouri. Approximately 1800 students from Defiance, Foristell, New Melle, O'Fallon, Saint Peters, Saint Charles, Weldon Spring, and Wentzville attend school at Howell. Francis Howell Central High School (FHC) is the third high school created in the Francis Howell School District. The school is located in Cottleville, Missouri, but a large part of its student population comes from its larger neighbor St. Peters. Home of the Spartans, Francis Howell Central is a four-year comprehensive high school offering programs in college preparatory, vocational, honors/advanced credit, advanced placement and a special education program. History FHC opened in the fall of 1997 with only freshmen and sophomore students. Francis Howell North High School
Francis Howell North High School is a secondary school located in St. Charles, Missouri. The school's mascot is Norm the Knight. History After Francis Howell High School alone could no longer support the burgeoning population of its part of St. Charles County in 1983, Henderson Junior High School was built on Hackmann Road on the border of the cities of St. Charles and St. Peters. Henderson was eventually expanded and the name was changed to Francis Howell North High School and began taking high school students in 1986.
