Francia Jackson
Francia Jackson Cabrera (born November 8, 1975, in Santo Domingo) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who won the gold medal with the Dominican Republic women's national volleyball team, women's national team at the 2003 Pan American Games in her home town Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Career Jackson won the silver medal at the inaugural 2002 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup, 2002 Pan-American Cup held in Mexicali, Mexico; there she was awarded "Best Setter". Jackson was chosen to be the flag bearer at the 2004 Summer Olympics instead of the previously chosen athlete Félix Sánchez (hurdler), Felix Sánchez. Her team ended in the 11th place at the tournament. Francia joined Mirador Volleyball, Mirador to play at the 2011 FIVB Women's Club World Championship. Osasco Voleibol Clube is a professional women's volleyball club, based in Osasco, São Paulo (state), Brazil. It includes volleyball teams for females of all ages, children through adult. Since the 2021-22 season the club plays under the name Osasco/São Cristóvão Saúde. History The club was founded in 1993, by the BCN bank, as BCN/Guarujá and changed headquarters' city in 1996, thereafter becoming known as BCN/Osasco. The club was renamed to Finasa/Osasco in 2003. Mirador Volleyball
The Mirador Sport and Cultural Center or simply Mirador is a women's volleyball club, based in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Dominican Republic. History The team was found 1970. With the help of Cosiri Rodríguez, who became the "Most Valuable Player" at the 2004 Distrito Nacional Superior Tournament, Mirador win the 9th consecutive and 23rd Championship, defeating Los Cachorros in the 7th game of the final series. The team won in 2006 its 24th title at the Distrito Nacional Volleyball Tournament. Mirador participated as ''CDN Mirador'' (Centro Deportivo Nacional and Mirador) at the 2008 edition of the Salonpas Cup finishing in 5th place. Bethania de la Cruz earned the Best Attacker award. Félix Sánchez (hurdler)
Félix Sánchez, (born August 30, 1977) is a retired Dominican-American track and field athlete. He is of Dominican descent, was born and raised in the United States, and competed for the Dominican Republic, specializing in the 400 meter hurdles. He is a two-time Olympic gold medallist, winning gold in 2004 and 2012, and was also World Champion in 2001 and 2003. Just before turning 36, he set the Masters M35 World Record with a time of 48.10. Sanchez acquired many nicknames: "Super Felix", "the Invincible", "Superman", and "the Dictator". The Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium, the Dominican Republic’s largest stadium, is named after him.
