Franci Slak
Franci Slak (1 February 1953 – 27 October 2007) was a Slovenian film director, producer, screenwriter, lecturer and politician. His 1987 film '' Hudodelci'' (''The Felons'') was entered into the 38th Berlin International Film Festival. Early life Slak, alongside his family, moved to the coastal town of Koper at an early age. He finished his primary and secondary schooling there. He first enrolled at the AGRFT in Ljubljana to study filmmaking, but later moved to Łódź in Poland, where he finished his studies as a Master of Filmmaking in 1978. He became a regular lecturer at his Ljubljana alma mater in 1980 and stayed employed there until his death. He received the Badjur prize three times (in 1981, 1985 and 1987) and also added the Prešeren Fund Award to his name in 1988. He was the president of the Board of programming of Active Slovenia. Krško
Krško (; german: Gurkfeld) is a town in eastern Slovenia. It is the seat of the City municipality of Krško. The town lies on the Sava River and on the northwest edge of the Krško Plain ( sl, Krško polje), which is part of the larger Krka Flat ( sl, Krška ravan). The area is divided between the traditional regions of Styria (territory on the left bank of the Sava) and Lower Carniola (territory on the right bank of the Sava). The entire municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region. Slovenia's only nuclear power plant, the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, lies southeast of the town. Łódź
Łódź, also rendered in English as Lodz, is a city in central Poland and a former industrial centre. It is the capital of Łódź Voivodeship, and is located approximately south-west of Warsaw. The city's coat of arms is an example of canting, as it depicts a boat ( in Polish), which alludes to the city's name. As of 2022, Łódź has a population of 670,642 making it the country's fourth largest city. Łódź was once a small settlement that first appeared in 14th-century records. Outsider (1997 Film)
''Outsider'' is a film produced in 1997 in Slovenia by writer and director Andrej Košak. The film was selected as the Slovenian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 70th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. The film takes place in the 1980s in the former Yugoslavia. It covers issues such as the former Yugoslav punk rock scene and drug use in the year when Josip Broz Tito died. The story begins in autumn 1979 when Sead Mulahasanović, whose father was a Warrant Officer (''zastavnik'') of Yugoslav People's Army moved to Ljubljana and started attending one of the local secondary schools. He immediately joined local punkers who formed a band. Because punk rock in Yugoslavia was not tolerated some of them quickly fell into trouble. RTV Slovenia
Radiotelevizija Slovenija ( en, Radio-Television of Slovenia) – usually abbreviated to RTV Slovenija (or simply RTV within Slovenia) – is Slovenia's national public broadcasting organization. Based in Ljubljana, it has regional broadcasting centres in Koper and Maribor and correspondents around Slovenia, Europe, and the world. Mayor
In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Active Slovenia
Active Slovenia (''Aktivna Slovenija'') was a political party in Slovenia. The party was founded in 2004 and won 3.0% of the popular vote and no seats in the National Assembly at the parliamentary election in 2004. Foundation The party was formed as the result of a split in the Youth Party of Slovenia in the run up to the 2004 European election. Supporters of Active Slovenia described the decision making in the Youth Party of Slovenia as undemocratic. A congress was held on the 8 May 2004 in Novo Mesto to form the party and elected Franci Kek as the first party leader.
