France Has The Bomb is an alternative rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, described as "the new sound of Minneapolis!" in 2009 by '' Rolling Stone'' magazine. The group consists of Srini Radhakrishna (vocals, guitar), Hideo Takahashi (guitar), David Storberg (bass) and Alex Rose (drums). The group has received considerable airplay on Minneapolis' Radio K. History The group was formed by Srini Radhakrishna in 2007 when he moved back to Minneapolis after attending grad school in Chicago, Illinois. He originally recruited Danny Henry and Brian Shuey to help him record some songs that he had written while in Chicago. The original intention was for the band to just be a recording project, but when Jered Gummere, a former bandmate from the Guilty Pleasures, invited Srini to open for his current band, the Ponys, additional members were recruited to form a live band. Mark Mallman
Mark Mallman (born July 20, 1973) is a Minnesota musician, film composer, and memoirist. Since 1998, he has released nine full-length studio albums, ''Happiness'' (2021) being his most recent. Education Mallman graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1991. He studied jazz piano at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1991. In 1995, at age 21, Mallman earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where he studied painting and performance art. It featured news, film, theatre and restaurant reviews and music criticism, available free every Wednesday. It ceased publication in 2020 due to a decline in ads and revenue related to the COVID-19 pandemic. History On August 1, 1979, publishers Tom Bartel and Kristin Henning debuted ''Sweet Potato'', a monthly newspaper focused on the Twin Cities music scene. The Folk Implosion
The Folk Implosion is an American band founded in the early 1990s by Lou Barlow and John Davis. It was initially a side-project started by Barlow to explore different territory than that being canvassed with his primary band at the time, Sebadoh. The name is a play on the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The band was on hiatus from 2004-2020. History Following the release of Sebadoh's ''Bubble and Scrape'' in 1993, Barlow received a tape from Davis, songwriter and librarian, that kicked off their collaboration as a songwriting team and studio recording project. The Folk Implosion released '' Walk Through This World with the Folk Implosion'' on cassette in 1993 on the Communion Label and as a 7" EP in 1994 on Drunken Fish. The band's status was relatively obscure before Larry Clark's film '' Kids'', and its soundtrack, most of which contained original compositions by Barlow and Davis.
