Fran Goldthorp
Fran Goldthorp (born 11 January 2003) is an international rugby league footballer who plays at domestic level for Leeds Rhinos Women in the Women's Super League primarily as a or on the . Goldthorp who is a student at Loughborough University also plays rugby union for Loughborough Lightning in the Premier 15s. Early and personal life Born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Goldthorp played rugby union and cricket at junior level including captaining the Yorkshire Cricket Board under-15 team as they won the County Championship in 2018. Her brother Eliot is a footballer. Club career Goldthorp's first rugby league experience came with Guiseley Rangers which brought her to the attention of the Leeds Rhinos, who signed her the club's under-19 squad. Aged only 16, Goldthorp made her first team debut for the Rhinos against Castleford in a Women's Super League match on 28 April 2019. 2020 RFL Women's Super League
The 2020 RFL Women's Super League known as the Betfred Women's Super League for sponsorship reasons was the fourth season of the Rugby League Women's Super League for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League (RFL). The competition was cancelled in August 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic The defending champions were Leeds Rhinos who beat Castleford Tigers 20–12 in the 2019 Grand Final on 11 October 2019. For 2020, the number of teams had been expanded from eight to ten, with the addition of Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves to the league. The format of the league had changed from 2019. 2021 Women's Rugby League World Cup
The 2021 Women's Rugby League World Cup was the sixth staging of the Women's Rugby League World Cup, and was be one of three major tournaments part of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. The tournament was held in England from 1 November to 19 November 2022. Originally planned for 2021, it was delayed a year along with the Men's and Wheelchair tournaments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament featured eight teams, an increase of two from the previous tournament. For the first time the tournament had parity with the men's and wheelchair tournaments with all participants being paid the same while all 61 matches across three tournaments will be broadcast live. The York Valkyrie are the women's rugby league team of York RLFC (known as York City Knights from 2002 to 2022) based in York, England. The Valkyrie, who were established in 2016 as the York City Knights Ladies, compete in the Women's Super League and play their home games at York Community Stadium which is also home to the York RLFC men's team, the York Knights, and football club, York City F.C. 2022 Women's Challenge Cup
The 2022 Women's Challenge Cup (sponsored as the 2022 Betfred Women's Challenge Cup) was the 10th staging of the Rugby Football League's cup competition for women's rugby league clubs. The competition was won by St Helens who beat Leeds Rhinos 18–8 in the final at Elland Road on 7 May. Format The competition has a different format from previous years. Instead of being a straight knockout tournament, the first stage was played using a single round-robin format with the top two teams from four groups advancing to the quarter-final stage, at which point knockout format was resumed. Entry was limited to the 12 teams of the Women's Super League plus three Championship teams; Hull FC, Oulton Raidettes and Widnes Vikings; together with the Army women's team.
