The 75 Years of Friendship through Cricket Event was an event hosted by Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, who invited his counterpart Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese for a Test cricket, Test match to celebrate 75 years of Australia-India relations, diplomatic ties on 9 March 2023, exercising cricket diplomacy. The 75 Years of Friendship through Cricket Event was a celebration of the strong ties between India and Australia. It was the fourth and final test match of the Australian cricket team in India in 2022–23, 2023 iteration of the Border–Gavaskar Trophy, and the match was drawn after Australia declared their second innings. Australian Cricket Team In India In 2022–23
The Australian cricket team toured India in September 2022 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches as a preparatory series before 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. They later returned in February and March 2023 to play four Test cricket, Test and three One Day International (ODI) matches. The Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 World Test Championship, 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. Australia won the first T20I by 4 wickets, to lead the series 1–0. The second T20I was reduced to 8 overs per side due to a wet outfield, with India winning the match by 6 wickets. India won the third and final T20I by 6 wickets to win the series 2–1.
