Fourth Colijn Cabinet
The Fourth Colijn cabinet was the cabinet of the Netherlands from 24 June 1937 until 25 July 1939. The cabinet was formed by the political parties Roman Catholic State Party (RKSP), Anti-Revolutionary Party (ARP) and the Christian Historical Union (CHU) after the election of 1937. The right-wing cabinet was a majority government in the House of Representatives. Demissionary Cabinet
A demissionary cabinet ( nl, demissionair kabinet) is a type of caretaker cabinet in the Netherlands. A demissionary cabinet continues the current government after a cabinet has ended. This can either be after completion of the full term, between general elections (when the new House of Representatives is installed) and the formation of a new cabinet, or after a cabinet crisis. In both cases the prime minister hands in the resignation of his cabinet to the Dutch Monarch. The Monarch will not accept full resignation until a new cabinet has been formed. Between the moment in which the prime minister hands in the resignation and the Monarch installs a new cabinet, the cabinet is labelled demissionary. As a demissionary cabinet is considered a continuation of the previous cabinet, it is not counted as a new cabinet (e.g. Balkenende IV did not become Balkenende V when becoming demissionary). Jacob Adriaan Nicolaas Patijn
Jacob Adriaan Nicolaas Patijn (9 February 1873 in Rotterdam - 13 July 1961 in The Hague) was an unaffiliated liberal Dutch politician who was Minister of Foreign Affairs from October 1, 1937 until August 12, 1939. Family J.A.N. Patijn was a member of the Patijn family which provided numerous politicians to the Netherlands. He was a son of Jacob Gerard Patijn, lawyer and politician, and Adriana Jacoba Clasina Veeren. In 1903 he married Rudolphine van Doorn (1880-1923) and, after her death at a relatively young age, remarried Elisabeth Wilhelmina Malwina de Brauw (1881-1954). From both marriages no child was born.
