Otto Brandenburg
Otto Herman Max Brandenburg (4 September 1934 – 1 March 2007) was a Danish musician, singer and actor. Career Music and Theatre He debuted in 1955 in the ensemble Four Jacks, but quickly became a soloist producing Danish rock. He then adapted his pop songs to folk music and jazz and became a popular actor. Brandenburg released records in Sweden and Germany under the name "Ole Brandenburg". In 1960, he unsuccessfully participated in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with the song "To Lys På Et Bord" (two lights on one board). In 1969, he began a new musical direction, setting his own lyrics to an American melody in the Christmas song "Søren Banjomus." In the 1970s he often worked with actress Vivi Bak. In the 1980s he collaborated with songwriters Halfdan Rasmussen and Evert Taube. Film Brandenburg won a Bodil award in 1978 for his role in ' and again in 1982 for "Gummi Tarzan". John Mogensen
John Mogensen (May 5, 1928 – April 10, 1977) was a Danish singer, songwriter and pianist. Mogensen was a member of the vocal quartet Four Jacks from 1956-1963. While still a member of the group, he gained popularity as a songwriter and launched a solo career in 1971. With his rough voice and frank and direct language, he formed a link between traditional pop and folk songs, alternating between direct criticism of society, simple love songs, and reflections from the pub milieu that he knew so well. Several of his songs remain popular, for example, ''Der er noget galt i Danmark'', ''Så længe jeg lever'', and ''Fut i fejemøjet''. After his early death, he became almost a cult figure to his followers. Some of his songs were re-issued and a musical based upon his life was performed for several years. On the Road to Mandalay is a song by Oley Speaks (1874–1948) with text by Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936). Text Oley Speaks set to music a portion of Kipling's poem, '' Mandalay'', 1890, from '' Barrack-Room Ballads, and Other Verses'', published in 1892 and 1896. The song comprises three verses of Kipling's poem: the first, second and sixth. The text of the song is a first person description by a British soldier in 19th-century Burma, who has returned to Britain. He describes his romance with a "Burma girl" and speaks of the emotional pull he experiences to return to Mandalay.
